They basically want to turn poker into bingo.Seems more bad changes coming up!
I miss them, I preferred them over the regular ones and they were my most played format on StarsThe single table KO games were just a variety of regular 6-man and 9-man games, which they still have. So I cant imagine, anyone will miss them to much. The real problem is, that most single table SnGs have been raked to much since the changes last year.
What are on-demand games? Aren't all sit&go's definitionally on-demand (as opposed to scheduled tournaments)? The turbo 9-man KOs were still running somewhat regularly, and it would clearly have been better, if they stopped removing games and instead added new games. But I think, SnGs are moving more and more towards On Demand games. I see that on ACR Poker as well. So maybe at least give us more On Demand games to choose from, which they did with the $5.5 mystery bounty game. I actually think, I will be playing this regularly, if it runs. On Demand is essentially the replacement for the old 45, 90 and 180 mans.
Its a SnG with late registration. Some have a maximum number of players, others do not. Recently PokerStars even changed their 18-mans to On Demand games. They now begin, when 12 players have registrered, and then registration closes after 15 minutes, or when 18 people have entered. They almost always quickly fill to 18 players, so the difference to the old 18-mans is minimal. What are on-demand games? Aren't all sit&go's definitionally on-demand (as opposed to scheduled tournaments)?
It works, look at GG Poker. They basically want to turn poker into bingo.![]()
When they did the rake "adjustments" for single table SnGs last year, there was actually discussion / speculation here in the forum, that the real purpose was to kill them off, presumably in the hope of pushing people over to other more rake generating formats. And if we look at the result so far, they are at least half way there. Not only are the KO games now gone, all the regular speed games are also gone, and above $25 only HU and 6-man remain.Such a shame. Are Stars just copying what 888 already did when they stopped sit and go altogether? The wait for 9 players had become excruciating on 888 and most of the remaining grinders migrated to the 6 man games before it was eventually gone altogether.
ACR Poker has gotten a lot of stick for their 4+ hour late registration periods, and in my opinion rightfully so. As a response to that? they have introduced some "lightning PKO" games, where you start with 10BB. They basically run every hour, but there is very little player interest in them. So it seems like, there is a limit to, what poker players will accept, which is a good thing.Literally 0 of these new Lightning Shootouts are running, looks bad!
I guess, they need some time to think about, what that might be. But good that players rejected a game with 10BB starting stacks and 9% rake.Funny they didn't add anything to replace these
