As discussed in another thread here about winning having a pleasurable dopamine effect and the stress of losing being harmful to your health, cortisol and all that...wondered if anyone actually loves this game be it win or lose? Certainly a easy game to love when you bring your A game + luck (running hot) being on your side...

On the flip side it completely sucks losing hand after hand no matter what you do, like just now I had J9 and my opponent had the same only suited... we both flopped a straight, our chips ended up in the middle and opponent ended up winning with a flush on the river. What can you do??? 🤔 after the initial shock of it and being laughed at by others I returned to my normal inner calm.. these situations hurt a little but I really am becoming quite strong inside when it comes to losses. I wouldn't say it stresses me out, so probably not doing any damage to my health.

My aim is to stay 100% Cool if I lose, no matter how long im losing for, or who im losing to...even if it's a complete donkey. I'm definitely getting there. To love the game no matter what!

I love poker and that's why I play it regardless of whether I lose or win. Sometimes it seems to me that individual players are more fortunate than knowledge, but I still enjoy the game. On the whole, I agree with you.

If you have a bankroll management plan and if you stick to it, then you are likely to be disciplined enough to keep your emotions under control and not give in to temporary difficulties. Bankroll management is the main factor for those who have long-term goals.

Most players I meet play because they love poker, I play for the same reason and I have had numerous bad beats. Win or lose its the joy of playing that matters most to me.

Yes, in poker some
times you win and sometimes you lose, you need to wait for your opportunities.

Where this gets challenging is when you should be winning in spots, but you keep losing, and it's over a period of time that is inconceivable to the mind. It will happen if you play long enough, 20 buy in down swings ev, and just running poorly, 4 bet pots them hitting 2 outers on the turn or river, gonna happen. I can tell you that I have never been so frustrated with poker in my life, when you think you have ran bad, you can always run worse, one of the worst things, some form of bad play follows, at least for me, but I think the vast majority of humans will fall in line here.

Such situations can put us on tilt. But I noticed that when you play for your own pleasure and don't pay attention to the moves, then you get a good result.
