Sometimes, poker makes us angry. When we lose with a strong hand, we feel bad or want to play angry. This is called “tilt.” Tilt makes us lose more money. How can we stop tilt and feel better?
Stand Up and Walk
After you lose a hand, get up and walk for a little time. Breathe. This helps you feel calm.
Stop playing for some time. Eat something, watch a funny video, or do some light exercise. This helps your mind become fresh.
Tell Your Story to a Friend
If you feel angry, tell your bad beat story to a friend, your pet, or write it down. When you share, you feel better.
Use Positive Self-Talk
Say things like "I stay calm" or "I can handle this" to yourself when feeling upset.
Remember: Bad Beats Happen to All
Tell yourself, "Everyone who plays poker loses sometimes." You are not alone. Even the best players get bad luck.
Do you have other easy tricks to stop feeling tilt? Share your ideas and tell your stories. Together, we can help each other stay calm and win more!
Also, how many have you lost big with better cards, such as pocket AA? And what did you do next?
