Do you respect the finesse of engineering?
Nowadays everything needs computer chips and electricity but back in the day you could have simply gambled in the light of a candle.
The old slot machines are marvels of engineering. Springs, levers, incredible mechanics and all the energy needed to run the device came from the player.
In this video we are taken through the insides of a 1930's slot machine.
When I was a kid the mechanical era was mainly passed by, but not completely.
We had these
PAJATSO or as some called them - Jasso.
A fully mechanical device where a player enters a coin into the slot on top of the machine and gravity moves it about 9 inches below to the point where you can see that washer on the right. Then a player hits the washer with his finger and tries to move the coin in one the black slots seen under the glass.
Outside lottery this was my first introduction to gambling and I loved it.
