I didn't really like blackjack because I didn't see anything special in the game. At first glance, it didn't seem very interesting to me. But I see that I was probably wrong, it's not that simple :)

We only have one casino here and limited black jack tables. I have played a few times but limit my bank roll on this game. It seems to favor the dealer obviously, but it seems so obvious. There can be 5 players and the dealer still manages to get the only ten/face card showing. And of course, the next card gives them at least 20. Hahahaha. Seems like a rough game unless you are playing 5 hands which of course gets costly.

If the 3 questions items I answered were accepted by @Special Events, then I believe I have already completed the scavenger hunt. (I had to resend my answer to quote where I find those answers about "Surrender" and "Split")
Make sure to watch the Scavenger Hunt thread for a new post with items on September 8th! :)

Hi Regie, though Tammy answered your question perfectly. This is a little video about it. It's a part of the free course available here on CC if you haven't seen it.

There is just a ton of good info on the site. I'm finding all kinds of hidden gems.

Also, the fewer decks the better. Continuous shuffle changed the game.
Absolutely! My favorite is when I can find a double deck (two decks). Gives a little more leeway over single deck, but those are getting really hard to find.

I never calculated anything and always played purely intuitively. Blackjack is a game where you at least have a chance to walk away with something. Unlike slots, where your chances are slim, blackjack is still, to a certain extent, a game that depends on your decisions, rather than just mindlessly pressing a button.

Hey, at least it’s a game where you can really make money if you’re smart enough and counting cards. But for the average player, it’s just another long-term losing game. Still, your chances of a return are better than buying a lottery ticket—which sells billions a year—so in a way, it makes sense

Tammy, thank you, your information is very valuable! Blackjack was the first card game I learned to play as a child. My father was very good at Blackjack and taught me all the rules when I was 6 years old. It is definitely one of my favorite games at the casino. I also really like the movie about Blackjack called “21” (2008). And after my big wins at the poker table, I always use the famous quote from that movie: “We won, so let's eat!”

You actually need to play to realize how much fun the game is. But watch out ;), Blackjack can take all your money in no time if you don't know what you're doing. It is best to play with fake money 1st to get familiar with its fast ups and downs and get some experience.

Why don't you take a look at the free Blackjack Academy course recently offered by CC. It's very simple and covers everything a beginner needs to know. After that, you can practice for free on Casino.us to sharpen your skills and even take a kind of little test (See 2nd link) by participating in the Scavenger Hunt contest. You can win some money too...

Another thing to look for is how many decks.

Its much easier to count 1 deck than 6.

Look for is their comps, are they easy to get? what limits do you have to play? how long to play? etc

There's a lot of them Tammy. Sometimes, in the same casino, you find tables where the dealer cannot hit the soft 17, and tables where he must do so. That's why it's important to pay attention to what's written on the felt before sitting at any table.
I've played Black Jack online and In a couple live casino's. I mean I've played for years. I did not know about the dealer and the soft 17 dealer takes a card. I've always played or thought I was playing Dealer can not take a card on 17. I need to start paying attention to this. Thats a very important factor to the game. I wonder if that has ever cost me $$.

Peace,
Tony

Well, on the tables where the dealer hits soft 17, the house has even more edge (Easy to figure out why).
Always choose tables where dealer stays on all 17s.

Hi @Tero

Yes, a normal deal is started with either 4, 6 or 8 decks of cards, which are held in the "shoe" from which the dealer deals the cards.

You must remember the idea is that the cards get shuffled less the more decks of cards they use. This makes it quicker for the dealer to deal cards. If there were only 1 deck of cards and you saw 3 aces out in the 1st set of hands, it is easy for you to work out how many aces are left.

The more decks of cards, the bigger the edge for the house (the casino).
the house always has an edge.

The house does not have an edge if the count is in your favor.

They usually counter this by shuffling.

Its easier to count 1 deck than six, but it will also probably be shuffled sooner.

Having played BlackJack live for many years I have found that using Basic Strategy is necessary but also a betting strategy is needed..if you bet the same amount every time the only way you can become an overall winner is to win more hands than you lose and statistically that isn't likely. Therefore the solution is a betting strategy that creates the situation where you lose more often with low bets and win frequently with high bets. Seems impossible as our crystal balls don't work that well. however here is a betting strategy I use which over the long haul has made me a better than 75% winner in casino bLackJack. My Strategy: first off I set a limit of how much I am willing to play with , let's say $100. I brake this down into a number of small bets that will last longer. I start as an example with a $5 bet if I win I continue the same, once I lose at the $5 bet I still continue until I have lost 3x then I increase my bet to $10. again allowing 3 loses until I increase to $15. and I keep this routine , increasing my bet after 3 losses until on a very bad run my $100 is gone and so am I . As well when I win at an increased bet I maintain that level for at least 3 hands or until I lose and then I increase to my next level. Over time as I said I am at least a 75% winner with this strategy. So my betting levels are $5..$10..$15..$20..$25. and I rarely lose so often that I reach $25 level...

Overall, my experience playing blackjack has been negative. I definitely lost more than I won. But I generally accept these losses as the price of entertainment. This money was not very important to me. Blackjack is not as simple a game as it may seem at first glance. I hope that with the knowledge I gain from the CardsChat community, I will be able to improve my game :)

Very useful article, thanks to you I tried to play Blackjack today. I used to watch streamers play from the side, but then it seemed to me that it was more difficult than poker and I was afraid to try)))

Thanks for the tips and basic info . I also watched the casino.us lessons . Basic rules are easy to learn . The hard part are all the details , the strategies , the card counting , the different blackjack variances , the winning betting patterns and strategies . A mobile App I think is not allowed live , but I think a chart is allowed for you to have it with you . A chart would be better for me , because yo remember all the all details is a little hard .

Hi @antonis32123

I think with these sorts of things, you either have the knack of it or you don't. Card counting is something you can develop, but over time, it's not a 10-minute learning job. Some people have been doing it for years, and even then, sometimes that old thing still catches them off guard.

Give it a go though, but don't tell the wife you are taking your rent or mortgage money to try it out with. :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:

Here is a basic strategy card which is usually available at all casinos
Thank you so much, man.
We spoke about it so many times, yet no one, including myself thought about posting it. Makes things easier to grab for beginners.

started to play blackjack now because of this, if I become rich and retire I'll come back to thank this post

I play some Blackjack too, almost every day. This merger has revived many things I haven't done for so long ;).
Now I spend about 2 more hours a day in front of the PC. Don't know if I can keep up with all those poker events and Blackjack on top :ROFLMAO::ROFLMAO:.

I didn't use any strategies when playing blackjack. I always played relying on luck, generally not so much for the money as for entertainment. Blackjack is certainly an interesting game, but as for stable profits in this game, I have certain doubts that this is actually possible to achieve.

Well, since there are Blackjack professional players just like in poker, then there's no doubt the game could be profitable.
The catch is the same everywhere though. Knowledge and discipline are a must.

In essence, blackjack can be a good alternative for poker players to a certain extent. Obviously, this is a game that requires patience and discipline, and if you are ready to work on yourself for a long time, then you have a chance to become a player who makes money. The main thing is to set a goal, write a plan, and move towards achieving it slowly but surely, step by step.
