When looking for a tournament, how much do you consider speed?

a) Regular speed (8 minute intervals taking 4 hours to complete)
b) Turbo speed (6 minute intervals taking 3 hours to complete)
c) Hyper speed (4 minute intervals taking 2 hours to complete)

Note that these times are only approximations and each type of tournament doesn’t necessarily fall into only one speed category.
Eg. Satellite tournaments usually fall into categories b) and c).

I categorically dislike hyper tournaments. Sometimes I may play in turbo tournaments, but in general, my favorites are regular tournaments with blinds that increase every 8-10 minutes. In such tournaments, there is a better chance of winning thanks to skill and experience, unlike turbo or hyper tournaments where luck plays a decisive role.

Of course its a major consideration, since you should not buy into a tournament, that is expected to last for 5 hours, if you only want to play for 3 hours, before you go to sleep or need to do something else.

I play only MTT's with 10+ min blind levels. The only exception is 6 max MTT's that are 8 min blind levels. The rest are only a bit better then playing the lottery. As a serious but only a rec/hobby player there's zero chance I can play enough volume when it comes to turbos or hyper turbos to beat the variance and luck needed. I am profitable at what I play.

Cheers!!!

I also prefer regular ones (8 to 10 minutes of level) but I confess that there comes a time when I run out of patience because it takes so long lol

I know people who are profitable in hypers, and I need to adapt to this modality too. Or at least test

I prefer hyper and turbo these days, but when I first started playing poker I only played slow tournaments and Sit & Go's

I always try to play tournaments where registration isn't that long, tournaments with 3 or 4 hour registration, I prefer to play MLR (max late registration) or not play at all.

I play all kind of speed schedules, but I start paying attention to the estimated duration when I'm getting nearer to the end of my session.

I usually like to play turbo tournaments with ~5min of blind interval.

You would have to play a lot more of the tournaments with shorter blind intervals to reach the same level of profitability unless somehow all of the worst recs are concentrated in a particular mode of hypers. I don't know the relative stats for possible profitability as it relates to blind duration. Intuitively shorter blinds are worse as there are fewer hands to be played and, at a certain level, even getting table switched a few times could cost you your entire buy-in with no reward.

I don't play MTT Hyper-Turbo tournaments because they're poker roulette. I feel best in Turbo, where the pace of play is appropriate to my playing tactics and activity.

Regular speed is 8 min ? I think it's 10 min . And if we talk about ACR then it's 15-20 min . More than 8 min blind levels is sth that I hate . Especially for freerolls . 7-8 minutes is good generally , I like 7-8 min blind levels and short LR like 1.4-2 hours . That's why I stopped playing on ACr , besides the bad beats

I consider speed very much! With the buy in selection, these are from the basic factors for selecting a game to play.

The faster the better. I don't play MTTs to earn money.

I dont really care, the faster format games just bring ICM into play sooner.

Ideally I like to start and end my sessions with Hypers, this makes it easier fill the screens.

The faster format games are great for keeping your ICM sharp and helping you improve short stack play.

As play around 4 hours a day I usually look for some turbos and hypers to play
