OThe bad thing about late is that you enter with very little chips, but the crowd is already more cautious because if you lose you're out.

late registration deprives you of playing a lot of hands in the low value big blinds. Also there are certain situation where players risk a lot in the beginning hands. Late registration you are usually on the low stack and it force you to go all in in rather few hands and sometimes with weaker hands. Personal opinion.

I don't think it matters. It's a matter of luck. If you don't get playable cards, you're out.

Do you think it’s better to register early and grind from the start, or join freerolls late with a short stack and try to double up quickly? I usually register early but sometimes it feels like wasted time if I bust early.
Depends on your skills. If you are good at shortstack ICM you can latereg in the last possible moment and have a better edge. If not - you will torch your money by lateregging, so reg early. Early reg is kinda more fun and you have more postflop action.

I guess the most inferior reg is in the middle of latereg, as you neither have the early reg big stack nor you are in a tasty ICM spot of the very late reg.

Never latereg to bounty tournaments.

In a knockout/bounty tournament, it is a huge advantage to register and start playing at the start…that gives you more chances for a knockout and collect the bounty. For regular tournaments, as others have mentioned, early registration means you can take advantage of weak, wild players…some posts mention entering after the wild and crazy players are gone…but wouldn’t it be better if it was you who captured their chips?

I think the early buy-in might be better since alot of people trash all-in on hands and maybe they lucky to get something even with 7 2 of suited. So usually an early buy-in can be beneficial to call bigger pots with better hands (AA/KK/AK and so on). But knowing my luck I lose as much heads-up with AA just as with 22-s :D

I do not like tournaments with a long late registration. It is perfect for me when it is no more than 15-30 minutes.

I think it depends on your playing style. Early registration gives you more time to build a stack and read opponents, but late registration can save time if you prefer a more aggressive, short-stack strategy. Personally, I mix both depending on the tournament structure.

I prefer registering early — you get more hands, more chances to build a stack, and less pressure. Late reg can work if you’re comfortable with push/fold, but early usually gives a better edge.

When we start playing at the start of the tournament, the blind is small, giving us the opportunity to play the most hands and read our opponents with the least cost of chips.
Good luck :)

You want to play hands with the fish, the fish are the usually the first players out.

The people that argue for late reg say they can get an ICM advantage, but when I see those same players play -they dont understand ICM.

Another thing to remember is late reg is usually most effective in tourneys with a flat payout structure like a satty.

But if you dont have a great understanding of the tourneys ICM - dont register late.

How do you know if you understand ICM - you have done extensive work with an ICM tool like sngwiz or icmizer, and you regularly get called a "bingo shove monkey".
