If A5o and KJs goes head to head against each other, then A5o has a small equity edge. But KJs perform better against the opponents entire range and is also more playable postflop. And for that reason its a hand, that we should play far more often preflop than A5o. If for instance the opponent has AQ, AT or 55-TT, then KJs has far more equity than A5o.
