Has anyone won a seat in a target tournament?

There are a lot of freeroles that lead to a target tournament and the steps are hard to pass up there!Usually there are 2,3,4 steps and after you have won a place for step 2, you lose in step 3 ,etc.My opinion is that it is a waste of time and even money if you do rebuy and do not qualify.

I think that you are probably upset, as you have not achieved the next level. I have won seats to the final level on various sites, but I do agree, I would say I have achieved the next level on 1 out of 5 occasions.

It takes perseverance and a tough resolve to achieve what you want. Nothing comes easy.

I would tell anyone not to play a satellite to a tournament if they are not prepared to put in the hard graft, and only do it if it is actually what they want.

Numerous members on CC have won through satellites to large events, even including the PSPC event in the Caribbean.

Yes multiple times.
But it weren't 4 steps in my case . Just two :)
For example pacific rim special at Stars.
Freeroll to 16.5$ ticket and then won the entry to the main thing
165$ Pko Pacific Rim Special.

They reduced it now though to a 109$ buyin
Sattelite remains but it's now a 11$ ticket to the direct satty

somebody has to win.
Also, when you have multiple step satellites, you'll find there's a very large number of players who play satellites terribly. They are extremely soft games. Unfortunately, on the flip side, can also be fairly high variance when you go Joe Dumbdumb calling down in spots where he's playing like he's trying to win TWO tickets in the one game (when obviously there's only one per player up for grabs... I'm sure you know what I mean. Likely because it's the only time they can actually win pots and they're not used to the feeling of winning)

I agree with you but if you start with step 1 and it is 4-5 steps to the target tournament I don't think you will reach that soon or not at all! You usually get into step 2-3 by making buyin and that's how you reduce the playing time to the target tournament! And those who buy directly in the target tournament have a large enough bankroll and can afford rebuys and addons! Don't you think so?

Nu e chiar așa! Câștigă de obicei ce ce au suficienți bani sa facă rebuyuri sau addonuri iar tu care nu ai, vezi că ai pierdut și banii cu care eventual ai făcut un rebuy la un pas anterior!!

Overall, you are right, I also consider such multi-stage freerolls to be a waste of time. The chances of qualifying are very slim. Therefore, there is no point in participating in such tournaments. At least for me, it makes no sense.

It's not really like that! Usually those who have enough money to make rebuys or addons win, and you who don't, you see that you also lost the money you possibly used to make a rebuy in a previous step!!

How do you get to this ^ from what I've written????

Maybe you've quoted the wrong person's post because your response has nothing to do with what I had written above. AND, satellites can be very profitable to play in (for the reasons I've mentioned above).

And I don't play any of the 'freeroll' satties. EXCEPT that one they are currently running on GG (wsop Express).
I got a free ticket. Used it to get the $2 ticket. Used that and won a $10 ticket. Used that and placed 3rd of 28 for $32.60 EASY GAME!
I was actually hoping to get 2nd because I wasn't really interested in 1st at the time because it's a $150 'ticket' to another satellite step.... but I wouldn't mind winning it at another point in time when I was actually playing tournaments that day.

You should try though you can use the 150$ ticket to buy in for the GGMasters, 1m gtd , freezeout

I have played those step tournaments several times. I did once make it to a target event through a freeroll path. And although I did not cash, the feeling of qualifying without paying was worth the grind.

I only participate in freerolls if I have free time and there is nothing better to play.

150$ ticket can also be used in 150$ GGMaster 1M GTD.

I totally get what you mean! Those step qualifiers can feel like an endless marathon. You fight hard in step 1, win the ticket, and then boom… step 3 sends you home. 😅 Personally, I only play them when I have extra time and patience, because otherwise it feels like chasing a mirage. But hey, if you get through all the steps, it’s an amazing feeling!

Yeah, I’ve won on 888 more than once. My biggest score was in a $109 buy-in tournament, but most of the time it was smaller ones. So yes, it’s definitely possible to win in these events, but you’re right — they take a lot of energy and time. On 888 it’s often better to grind freerolls where you can pick up some cash and slowly build a bankroll for $5–$10 buy-in tournaments.

When I started, I remember playing in tournaments/freerolls like this. Gradually, you'd win tickets worth more and more. Once, at unibet, I managed to win a $250 ticket this way in the final round. I later used that ticket in a bounty tournament. I was quickly eliminated, but I managed to win a total of $500. I remember it well. I haven't played anything like that for many years. It's a waste of time and energy.

Yes, it can be a waste of time when you don't achieve your goal, but you can get good prizes, it's not easy and it never will be, there will be good days and bad days, I have qualified for very good tournaments through the steps, of course I haven't won big prizes but I think I've obtained decent results, there have also been many times where I was eliminated in the last step, my advice is to keep trying, it won't be easy but I'm sure you will achieve good results
