What did you do?
You folded?
In that case what comes on the flop is not relevant.

You have no fold equity, and there are still enough that are shorter than you are.
I think what information misses here to make a good decision is to know when the blinds will go up.
Considering that people will probably timebank to the maximum before that.
Because the blinds will reach you before they reach the shorties.
In case the time left on this blind level is sufficient before the blinds reach you I think a fold is good in a sat.

I think I would push though, because too many times I experienced that the shorties double instead of bust and that leaves me being the shortest.
Maybe not the best decision but I prefer busting through my own action then bleeding out and busting through my own inaction.
If that makes sense...
Again regardless of flop cards.

No. pvs80 explained it. You're also not GTD to min cash yet. And besides playing to min cash is playing to lose long term.

Cheers!!!

At the screenshot you can see (top of it) that information. Still 2:48 till next blind level.

Facing a 22 would give me 47% of winning chance, while any 'random' cards such JQ 64% chance. I would never do that in a normal tournament, but as all prizes were equal, standing in 1st or 22nd makes no difference at all. That's how I thinked

PS: I managed to win, 22 USD ticket is at my account :)

BHey hardongear, thanks for your toughts, but this was a satelite, not a normal tournament. As I said, ending in 1st or 22nd would granted me the same prize. I was watching other tables to see how close the button was from short stacks, so I did my move and fold.

sorry, I missed that, that said, I don't know still if that would be enough time, how much time bank is left for everybody etc.
GG and good job though ;-)

You need 2 more players to bust to win $16 and 3 more to bust to win a $22 ticket. There are 3 extremely short stacks on your own table, but you will get hit by the blinds before them. For that reason I think, I would still jam here, if it had folded to me. Maybe BB will fold, since he dont really need more chips, and even if he call, AK should be in good shape against his range. And if one or more of the short stacks call, you can bust them, but they can not bust you.

However when the big stack in front of you has limped, I think, I fold here. He is not going to limp-fold, so now you have no fold equity, and there is a high risk of a 3-way pot, where both opponents can bust you. It also matter, if there were other super short stacks at the other tables. If that were the case, then its even more of a fold, because maybe you just need to fold this hand and the next, and then you have already at least won $16.

Cannot fold because you are near to be engulfed by the big blinds... and if you win you are almost guaranteed with your ticket

Great analysis (IMO)!
The big stack is a maniac, 36% VPIP, he would have called my AK
Blinds were not gonna ate me, even with ante. I would be at the limit, but still alive

I would have folded, I used to play these tournaments 3 tickets already won , there are quite a few fish who don't understand satellite tournaments, whether you come first or 22nd, I would have gone all in with AA KK and then I would have got the ticket for sure

Yesterday the last player was eliminated like that, if he hadn't gotten into a game I think he would have had his ticket

AQ with that many chips I would have folded for sure

I am aware of the satellite situation, but you cant fold a hand like this. You are a small stack yourself and have to double up. Sure, some players are even shorter, but what happens if they dont bust? Very nitty fold!

You need to play as your inner voice tells you, but you have a freeroll here, they play without thinking, aggression is in 1st place.

This is unconventional play. Nice that you made it through despite folding. GL.

There are 3 shorter stacks than you on your table and one will be all in when the BB hits you(antes), Question is what is the position of the other 6 stacks shorter than you on the other two table will they be hit with the blinds before you?

I'm ok with this fold. You're in 16th place which means there are super short stacks. Great chance to win the ticket in 1 round and you can survive that

Smiler is on 0.2 BB's so likely calls this hand with any 2, and if he loses, you're on the stone cold bubble, $16 is worth more than the ticket, and as has been mentioned the limp by a big stack means you are likely playing against 2 players, and so may not even be 40/60 to win the hand.....I'm folding all day long here, especially as there are 9 players total with less than 2.6 BBs.

I'm folding KK and AA here too!
