AK suited when you know someone has a pocket pair. How would you guys play this hand... I've always had trouble with this hand, specially late stages of the tourney. I've been getting better, laying it down when I feel I'm beat and I'm behind in the chip count, but what are some of your experiences?

It always seem that I always lose to it, but never win with it. Sometimes its just a luck factor.

Well its all down to the circumstances. Pushing all in preflop makes the other guy make the decision which is nice ;]

If they havn't bet much and you can see the flop without it taking a big dent from your stack then take the flop and look for a chance to bet him of it. Better yet you might even pair up.

Though I do agree with you that its a hand that can get you into a lot of trouble.

Its a luck thing. against a pocket pair it is almost a coin flip on who is going to win.(unless AA or KK duh)

I love AK suited. If you are vs a pocket pair(except for KK or AA) then its a coin flip. I personally would call in most situations(of course it depends on the situation). But then again, im a risk taker so it depends on u, ur opponent, the situation, ur chip count, and ur opponents chip count. GL:toilet:

It depends if you want to go in on a coinflip. It is almost 50/50 that you will win so if you want to put all your chips and head/tails then go for it.

AK can be a monster hand against loose player who play medium As. I usually dont like being the original raiser with AK in order to draw in the medium As but if there has been a previous raiser I think its worthwhile to move in and force him to make a decision.

People say AA gets in your in trouble

Well I say AK gets you in even more. While in a lot of cases you can be a fave with this hand, any pp means you are drawing. All I can say is if you are going to play this hand, hope you don't run into aa or kk and well best of luck to you.

AK

Definately push it hard pre-flop. If you don't pair up on the flop and it is checked to you, push it again. If someone bets into you, you're only about 26% to hit the turn or river, so I would re-raise to see if he's bluffing or just lay it down. You can't lose what u don't bet.

If you "know" your opponent has a pocket pair, just CALL if the bet is low to try and hit an A or K on the flop.

If someone raises in front of you with AK either just call or fold. Re-raising should be done against very loose players and only sparingly.

With regards to calling an all-in with AK, I usually only like to do that if a tournament is winding down (final table or close to it...) or if the table is shorthanded (sit-n-go, final table, etc.)

AK has a slightly less than 50% chance of pairing up after all five cards are revealed. You have a round a 30% chance of hitting an A or K on the flop.

The way you play AK is all dependent on what you think your opponent has and if you want to risk your chips on a toss-up, instead of sucking a player in...

Swoosh, you and Grumble were talking about you losing to trip 6's with your AK. Wanna give us a rundown of how the hand went, and at what point you were all-in?

AK is a great hand to have but compared to a pocket pair, it is worthless really. It is more frightening especially when the other opponent has a PP aces, which can really screw you over. But overall, just fold if they raise it large.

thats a tough one! i usually go with the community cards and see if i have a strong enough hand and try to go from there. its very hard to fold them but if you dont have any thing by the flop or the turn why hold on to them I mean thats just how i will play it and juts go get the pot the next hand

i say if u r behind in the tournament u should take time and analize wat u think the ither guy has. if u think he has u fold; if u think u have call. One thing to never forget is... ALWAYS GO WITH UR FIRST INSTINCT

AK is another tough hand to walk away from, especially when suited. Get a look at the flop for cheap if possible, otherwise you have to hope you have a good read and don't run into bad luck or a stack buster.

Ak suited, you wanna raise preflop and then hope to catch top pair or flush draw. Then hopefully youre good to double up.

AK is one of the best hands to do all in, because if another player have a 88 for example, it's only 2*8 to came from him, and six cards (3*K or 3*A) to came from u, the bad luck is that him have from start a poket... This is teory, practicly u can win and with 2 3 all in... So the luck is v important... :p

you should at least see the flop, then play against pot odds
