As the uniform stacks suggest, this was the very first hand in the tournament. The game is an 8-man SnG on ACR Poker. The opponent is a SNG reg with stats of VPIP 26 / PFR 20 / AF3 over 3k hands. Pretty much a standard LAG style, and since its ACR Poker maybe a russian bot? The question here is, how do you get max value, when you completely crush the board in a 3-bet pot against a reg? I am not going to hide anything but the result in this one, because.... yeah I called :)

I would check flop i think, or if betting i would go smaller , no need to bet more than 33% pot.

While its tough to get called when you block the board so heavily i think you should try to get your whole stack in by the river. As played a 1.5x river shove would be better than just a 40% pot bet

I like how you played the hand, only think that I would make is a bigger bet on the turn since you bet also big on the flop. I would bet around 290-305, that way you can jam the river. There is only one hand that can beat you and that is 55, I don't think he has it that often. :)

I really liked how you played it against a player like that.

I did think about checking but decided against it, because he is a reg. He probably expect me the C-bet an Ace high flop almost 100% of the time, so if I dont, it will almost look suspicious to him. I would like a check far more against a recreation player, and especially a spewy type, who might then bluff away at the turn thinking, that I have nothing, because I checked.

I was trying to target second pair type hands like 99-JJ, since its kind of unlikely, he has an ace, when I have two of them. But to be honest I dont know, if those hands call 3 times. I also dont know, if an ace calls, if I move all-in for 100BB. I can have all the good aces here, so I can see a reg folding even something as strong as AJ, if I try to play for stacks.

In this particular case he would likely have called though, since he had 65s and flopped trips. But he also value owned himself by check-jamming river likely thinking, I had an AK/AQ type of hand, and that he was the one slowplaying since the flop. So I guess, it was just a cooler, where I get his stack almost no matter what, I do.

Are you really going to bet range on an A high flop when you have so many pair combos that want to check , KK, QQ, JJ etc ? I think its normal to have a checking range and checking AA helps strengthen this range considerably. You can also get value from hands that would otherwise fold flop but might bluff turn.

On the river i dont think he is calling 99- JJ anyway, you are just hoping he has an A and will bluff catch. Sure some regs will fold alot but they dont need to call as often as v a smaller bet for it to be more profitable, and if they are holding AQ , AJ they may realise they are close to top of range and need to call at some frequency. A bigger turn bet would also help set up a river jam.

Overall i dont think your line is too bad, but this is how i would.approach it, which i think wins a little more on average.

Thats a fair point, and I wanted to see, how GTO Wizard play this spot, but unfortunately I ran out of free analysis. It can basically be analysed as a 100BB cash game 6-max hand, because its the first hand in the tournament, and the action is in late position. If someone wants to do this, please share the result :)

Thats what I thought also, after the hand was over.

Check turn game, very difficult to extract two streets, river always high size, between 75% and over pot

Cool hand. On the flop my first instinct is to check because you have this board murdered and block almost everything, but because you 3bet and there is an Ace, you would probably cbet your entire range. So actually I think betting small is correct. Maybe against a weak player you could still check.

But on the Turn I'm 100% checking to look weak. This is the time to trap. The cbet small / check line looks like you have a pocker pair that's scared of the Ace. If he doesn't have a pair, which is reasonably likely even after the Flop, then this is the only way to get any more value after the Flop bet. And even if he has a smaller pocket pair, it might still be the only way. 33 won't pay you on the Turn but it could bluff the River if you check the Turn.
