Same game and same opponent as the QQ hand but in the next blind level now and this time its blind vs. blind. Still around 10 players left. Do you call him down this time and/or do something different on the earlier streets?

Now this hand I like, it's a tricky one. Since he just called there pre-flop, he has a wide range off hands, but even like that is hard to fold your hand. I do believe that folding is the right option here. His overbet river makes me think that he might have a 5x,6x, and even if he has just an Ax hand which I doubt, I think the better option is to fold.

Just in case someone read this, who is new to the game: hero beat A high here, because his pair of 4`s is higher than the lowest pair on the board. So this is not a counterfeit situation.

Which I did. But I was actually close to calling, because I felt, that this overbet was pretty polarizing like a boat or nothing. And probably more like a 6 or nothing, since I dont think, a 3X hand takes this line very often. And while he could certainly have a 6 or 3 in his hand after limping in preflop, its far easier for him to have something else, when we see two of them on the board.

What ultimately made me fold was the fact, I was not getting a particularly good price here, and calling and losing would significantly reduce my chance of cashing in the tournament. Which is pretty important in an 8-man, since the payouts are 50/30/20. The QQ hand also played into my decision making. In that hand he kind of overplayed a second pair type hand, and it would really suck to make a hero call here and then lose to a hand like A5.

Do you play any Mystery Battle Royale on GGPoker? I think you would do great there.

Preflop: I know PokerStars has relatively strong players, but even so I doubt that most people have a properly structured limping range from the SB that includes a balanced amount of limp/fold, limp/call, and limp/raise. I think just checking gives people a bit too much respect. I would just raise any pair.

Flop: 44 has showdown value but I would still raise here, just to cash out my equity. Your opponent's range is incredibly wide here that they're pretty likely to just have two overcards.

Turn: even as played I would probably still raise now. "I call the flop then raise the Turn when a kind of scary card comes" <- this looks how most people would play trips. You can get a 5 to fold, and on some Rivers you can even try to get an overpair to fold (or you can decide that it's not worth it and give up on the River).

River: as played I definitely fold here, I'm not gambling on my opponent triple-barreling overcards when I could easily have slow-played trips here.

Take all this with a grain of salt because I only play vs. weak live competition, but, idk, this really seems to respect people a lot for a 10 dollar buy-in tournament.
