The edge in poker tournaments is proportional to how many hands you get to play. Since this format is extremely fast, your edge is much smaller than in normal tournaments. For it to be a fair game, the rake would have to be proportionately small, perhaps 1% of the buy-in. But it's raked like a regular tournament, which makes it horrendously bad.

ICM knowledge is a MUST!

That said, there is skill involved, especially in heads-up spots, ICM awareness, and adjusting quickly to opponents.

Spin and gold is a winner-takes-all format, which means chip value is strictly linear. There is no ICM. You should play exactly as if your chips were cash.

Spin and Gold gives you a small starting stack, so it's hard to wait for the hands you want.
Because of that, you often end up playing with weak hands.

Luck plays a big part in the game, but even beginners have a good chance to beat pros.
I think it's a fun game for people who don't have much skill but just want to enjoy poker casually.

that is what I was referring to.
I would hardly disagree, because ICM just doesn't exist in winner-takes-all tournaments.

I guess having good grasp on heads-up play will help a lot, but as I see it, even if spin-n-go's can be profitable in the long term, it is going to be only marginal profit over a ton of variance.

Spin and gold is more skill but not too straightforward or strategy-type, as compared to the other games, and I have had more success with low buyins than the rest of games besides spin and gold already available (not tournanents).

Since I've played on pokerstars for several years, I think it's skill-based, but luck plays a bigger role, because there are fewer of the higher odds and actual luck also matters a lot.

I have seen somewhere that due to the rapid pace of 1/2 minutes per blind level and a small amount of chips, it is really difficult to actually use the knowledge and proper strategy on Spin & Gold or other forms similar to that. Just wanted to ask for your opinion wether it is something not wortf playing due to high risk or is it just a negative opinion from one person on this topic.
It is mainly luck, since there is no time to recover when you lose chips. I play the ten cent spin’n’go when I have change in my account and I have 3 minutes before dinner.

I only play those 4 times a week with the free tickets, for a certain period of time, like a whole week, sometimes a whole month, I play at a 3 players table only, then for the next period I play at a 6 players table only, and so on.
At a 3 players table, I go all-in with any decent card and call everyone else all-in with those decent cards.
At a 6 players table, I play more conservatively.
Usually in a week I go to prize at least 1 time.
In about two years, I've never won a large sum, the wheel has always given me the lowest win or at most the next highest :(o_O:mad::LOL::cry::ROFLMAO:

I think it's based on both, but we have about 70% luck and 30% skill. There's no point in being skillful and when you see no cards come in some rounds or the board doesn't help, everything is lost.

Spins format is definitely skill based, though the edge for skilled players is small due to short stacks and the natural variance of all-in situations (which can't be avoided due to the short stacks)

As stacks get shorter more luck is involved, with games like 888 Blasts with <10bb starting stacks have a lot of luck involved, though playing correct ranges is profitable (in chip ev terms*) vs player who don't.

*Whether the games are $ profitable is another question as rake and average prize has to be considered - it is quite possible for games to be unbeatable even for skilled players.

I think they require a higher skill level. The sustainable ROI's for a lot of good players are in the mid single digits.

With the lower ROI formats most players will find the swings to be very extreme.

If you are haven't studied the format you will have very little chance of being profitable over the long term.

I like it, but what don't I like? The wheel turns and it is noticeable that it is clearly arranged. An example that you all have observed:when it reaches the Sicana it stays in place if it is the smallest prize or returns to this prize when it hits the Sicana. It passes the Sicana when the next prize is the lower.Usually the prizes are the ones of X2 or X3 and rarely the others.!! The software is aimed at the platform and not the players. But if you want to have fun you can play but without claims, the big prize is very rare.

GG when I opt for 6 handed and it pays 2 spots, I usually cash. 3 spots, too much luck involved to take top spot
