Account Frozen at Pokerstars

Wow my account was frozen at poker stars apparently someone accessed my acct. Went through hell to get it reinstated picture id ,change pw change Email pw,scan computer.Any one else have this problem?

Two years ago, I had a similar problem. It turned out that they wanted to receive documents from me for re-verification. I provided the documents and a week later I was restored access.

The same thing happened to me a few years ago. Routine checkups. This is normal.

How, or more importantly, why does someone log in to someone else's poker account? Unless you have a lot of money in your account, and somebody somehow knows that, I don't see the reasoning. I'd be worried about bank and credit card accounts being accessed if somebody somehow got access to my poker account login details.

How, or more importantly, why does someone log in to someone else's poker account? Unless you have a lot of money in your account, and somebody somehow knows that, I don't see the reasoning. I'd be worried about bank and credit card accounts being accessed if somebody somehow got access to my poker account login details.

One could assume that any of the players who are playing $109+ buyin MTT's is going to likely have a decent amount of $'s in their accounts. I know players who keep ~$25k in each of the accounts they're playing on and these are not the high stakes players. The ones regularly playing the HiRoller tournaments must easily have $100k+ (there's a tournament on GG that runs every week that has a $10k buyin & you'll see lots of players re-entering it with some entering it 3x). I would think that even a large number of low stakes MTT players must be keeping at least a few thousand dollars in their accounts. Some players who are playing mid-stakes MTT online, $35-to-$109's are playing between $5,000 & $8,000 in buyins PER DAY!... and that's every day. Low stakes (& even micro stakes) MTT players who are staked likely receive a reload on a weekly basis for probably $1,000/week.

How does someone gain access to someone's account? I'd guess via keyloggers but I don't know much about it.

This happens for several reasons, such as using some software with pokerstars open.

Yes i had same problem i did request to close my account because i some how somebody from india connected to my stars account i did closed my account and created a new 1 easy

Not sure PS allow you to close and reopen, suggest getting the new one verified before you start putting money in as you may have difficulty withdrawing

For some reason, only PokerStars gets hacked, I haven’t heard of accounts from other rooms getting hacked.
