Oh I can't believe I missed all this in real time--the first time in many years--because it all happened during my long weekend away. Coming back to all these great posts eased the pain. Thanks especially for the great videos, Phil (JusSumguy).

Does anyone know when the broadcast will begin on ESPN?

not sure why man or woman really matters, poker is a battle of minds, and neither sex has an advantage.. I just see them all as players.

A woman in the November 9 would have meant months of press coverage around the woman, convincing other women that poker is a game for them, and bringing countless new recreational players to the tables

It matters a lot.

And it would be positive press coverage for the game, as opposed to all the negative Full Tilt & DOJ news of the last year or so.

All of this and so much more. It would have been unbelievably good for the game and for all of the women who already play.

Plus having a gorgeous woman at the table would not have hurt the tv ratings either. :p

well I agree, would have created more coverage and press and probably created a lot of good attention for poker, I just dont like the fact the people care so much about male or female in poker, just a player to me. but I cant change how the whole world thinks.. so guess it would have been good if they had made it.

I hadnt heard of any of the 9 players prior to the tourney.
But after reading up on the October nine it seems like its the toughest final table ever.
(In WSOPME)

Just goes to show.

LOL - yeah I kept expecting to read "Bob started playing poker at his local American Legion Hall 3 years ago." But no, they are all very deserving.
This is obviously going top make somebody a poker superstar, but I think the real poker nuts are going to love the action this table is going to provide.

Let's hope the national championship gets minor viewing figures after the scumbag that won it.

Well since Amanda was also a final table participant (I understand she is seated right across from Ryan) I think it's now "must see TV". It is for me anyway. And now I'll bet you watch too.

While I am not defending him - I am not condemning him either. Because while she made public accusations of an abuse incident (via Twitter right?) - she never reported it to the authorities. So if she was not offended enough to take action there is no reason I should pick up the ball and continue to run with it. Sorry Amanda, you deserved better but if you can still sit down at the table and play with the man within the same week (and this is gong to be interesting to see the dynamic between them), then why shouldn't I extend the same courtesy. So right now it is just allegations - I wasn't there. Maybe it was an accident - not like oops, but like he raged, slapped a laptop out of her hands and it flew up and hit her in the face. He is definitely culpable in whatever happened, but it is possible he was not intending bodily harm. How they interact at this table could give me some clues and sway my opinion one way or the other.

And I will be shocked if Chad Norman breaks out to let the world know with, "In his spare time Ryan enjoys beating Amanda Musumeci in the face with laptop computers."

YouTube. Nearly all of One Drop was on there last I looked. With hole cards on any action after the hands.
