What is happening in the online poker industry?

I’m pretty new to the world of poker and I’ve juststarted following some poker news sites, so perhaps I just haven’t realized howenormous the industry is. But I just have to ask, is this “normal behavior” forthe poker industry or is something going on?
To name just a few examples:
IGT is expected to close their poker network, thereare rumors about BCP moving to the Winning Poker network, Full Tilt closes andreopens in EU under pokerstars, unibet france is leaving the Ongamenetwork for iPoker, iPoker network splits their player pool, Ongame is sold toAmaya and the list goes on and on and on…

Today i read, Full Tilt lost 50 % of its traffic and Merge is only 20th (!!) place in pokerscout...

I wouldnt Worry about merge. Skins have been leaving merge and joing another network. So just some of the players are being shifted around..
I think it is getting harder for the sites to pay americans so a lot of americans proably are quitting becuase of the wait you have to do when you request a withdrawal.. Thank god I am a micro player so it doesnt bother me.
