Here we go! PartyPoker Live returns to the UK!

PartyPoker Live is back in the UK after limited activity over two years! Well, it will be soon enough.

Even though Covid cases are still among the residents in the UK the numbers seem to indicate there is a decline in cases which helps the decision to go live once again.

For clarity, there will be four online starting flights taking place between January 16 and 18 to give players maximum flexibility. However, the actual return is planned for January 20 with the first of three live starting flights.

How many do you think will make the return to the felt?

Well, the Omicron variant is raging through the UK and Europe...but...it is obviously a different kettle of fish to the Delta variant.

I think if people are vaccinated, a certain level of Covid protocols are in place and adhered to, then live play can be facilitated. The wsop was a great test 'case' so to speak. For much of the series, there was no spread of Covid. Near the end there were some outbreaks (some appear to have fudged on their status) but overall tens of thousands came together within the guidelines and the event was a success.

Which just went to show if people took care of what they were doing, all on the same page, then a level of normalcy can be met.

Well, just to add another perspective on the above comments...

Just listened to the latest poker news Podcast where specific to Las Vegas, Chad Holloway noted he went to Vegas for New Years and caught Covid. Whilst he was there Brandon Shack-Harris and Remko Rinkema also announced they had tested positive. So I presume some of those protocols in place for the WSOP might have been relaxed a little too much as Covid was reported to have 'exploded' in LV through New Year.

Remko has been Tweeting about how grim he has felt...

Well, just to add another perspective on the above comments...

Just listened to the latest Poker News Podcast where specific to Las Vegas, Chad Holloway noted he went to Vegas for New Years and caught Covid. Whilst he was there Brandon Shack-Harris and Remko Rinkema also announced they had tested positive. So I presume some of those protocols in place for the WSOP might have been relaxed a little too much as Covid was reported to have 'exploded' in LV through New Year.

This does not surprise me one bit, honestly. As careful as 'some' folks may have been protecting themselves, that's not always going to be enough if others don't protect themselves the same way. I've read a couple of stories from those who had attended the WSOP and got the virus and their words did not paint a pretty picture. Thankfully some folks can recover from the virus with little to no symptoms but I do feel bad for those who struggled on the comeback trail.

So, I do hope partypoker has tweaked a bit from the WSOP COVID playbook to help make their return to the felt a positive one.
