Here's another article posted this week:

Absolute Poker Owners Contest DOJ Asset Seizure and Sale
http://pokerfuse.com/news/law-and-r...er-owners-contest-doj-asset-seizure-and-sale/

And an interesting/disturbing quote from it:

So not only are we not ever going to get our money from AP, the government is now going to sell our email addresses?

its customer database of several million e-mail addresses, in hopes of selling them on the secondary market and recouping money to be used in settling the case.

PLEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEZE tell me this is a joke..............

After the first scandal I cashed out and never kept more than a couple of hundred in there at any one time.

How this one turned out is no surprise. FTP was the big surprise to me.

I expected someone to steal our money, either the casino or the U.S.G., and as usual I have not been disappointed.

poker stars and party poker were the two biggest sites before the US took action starting in 2006 and they seem to have been the only sites where depositors were given a fair deal in getting their holdings returned.

I don't really get the people that say the scandals affected the nosebleeds and not micros so they didn't have to worry. The people responsible for the scandals were running the ****ing company lol. Delighted to say I never played a single hand on AP/UB

The selling of e-mail addresses is absolutely disgraceful

AP really had no significant money play after the first superuser flap. At the time the US came down on them, they had very few games above the low levels. I was not surprised that they did not offer any refunds to players, they obviously could not cover it. Ditto for UB.

good thing I cashed out on UB looong time ago, just a few weeks before they screwed up.
Had left few $$ but not much.
On the other hand, didn't pull out all of hard earned $$ from fulltilt, cashed out month or two before they closed, but still had few hundreds on account, hopefully will get them someday..... :)

The funny thing to me is, that if these sites came back online tomorrow half the people that got robbed would be right back at it depositing. Long before Black Friday it was well known these clowns were frauds. Hind site is 20/20 but damn man, it was super obvious these sites were run by criminals.

If you knew of the scandal...

if you played on UB/AP beyond the superusing scandal, you had this coming imo

Thanks XD,

but I was a late arrival to the on-line poker world, and I did not know of the 'hacked' poker site - or conspiracy as most would say that AB was originally involved in. So I guess I did not deserve that the DOJ took my money...? Or did I?

Your trite statement denies due process. Let's call what AB/AP did a 'robbery', and let's call me the victim. The DOJ shuts them down, and then takes the money to pay for their efforts, or for judgements against the plaintiff. Is that the way it works in the case of a simple robbery, or is it usual that stolen property is returned to the victim? I mean, if someone stole my car, and the police caught them, but in order to pay back for their efforts to catch the thief they sold my car, or kept it and used it so as to recompense their own efforts - is that right?

Why do you say it serves people right to lose their money? Or are you just trying to call attention to the fact you think you are so smart? I lost no small amount of money on Absolute Poker, but neither did it cripple me. I suppose since it did not cripple me I might admonish the people who it did cripple, and state they should have seen it coming.

Your comment is neither productive, sympathetic, nor does it focus on the fact that on-line poker in the USA should not in fact be illegal. It is a game of skill. But Bingo Parlors, they exist everywhere in the USA. For 'charity'. And they effectually dent so many family incomes it's hard to even speculate at the number. Whether run for a 'church' or a 'cause', the odds are ridiculous, yet they are allowed to exist. Are there people who play it that have a gambling problem? You better frick'n believe it. Some of these parlors are open 7 days a week (check out L.A.) - and they rake in huge amounts of money.

So - I am denied my little bit of low stakes holdem because some political hacks think I can't control my own money? No wonder the rest of the world laughs at us. We are becoming the silliest country on this planet.

Anyway - this is my first post here. I'll try to be constructive next time. But I don't think it's right that another poker player (?) would take a cheap shot at a poker player (/players) who lost money by simply wanting to play the game that we all love. I sure hope it comes back in the USA, but I am not all that confident. Join the PPA and try to help there.

thanks for making me want to join the forum, whomever the di@khead was that wrote the 'serves you right' comment.

Hi Josh... see my other post. It wasn't to you I wrote it, but now I would definitely include you. Timing is everything my man.
