Is it worth trying to play cash games online from Texas? or am i going to expect a knock on the door from the sheriff?

It is against Texas law to gamble. Trying to understand what my options are. I reside in Houston, Texas. I've seen advertisement for cash game held online. Trying to see what i am able to do without going to jail.

I would be very surprised if they would jail u for trying to play online.

Ur options are: winning poker network, chico network, bodog, crypto-only sites and dodgy Apps with agents. Not even sure if the first 3 rooms/networks offer their services in texas tbh.

Crypto-only sites and Apps would work for sure.

My first thought when I read this is, if you are worried about going to jail and it bothers you, then don't do it. The other thought is to contact a lawyer, city hall, etc. or read up on what is legal or illegal and decide for yourself.

Winning Poker Network apparently does. This is a quite from the TOS of ACR Poker:

"1.4 Citizens of Australia and Residents of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, State of Maryland, State of New Jersey, State of Delaware, State of Nevada, netherlands or Washington State may not download and use the ACR Software for any purpose."

Since State of Texas is not mentioned here, people living in Texas can play on ACR. And in my opinion this might be OPs best option, if he can free himself from the fear of getting arrested :)

If he can free himself from the fear of getting arrested be might still have to deal with other problems:
