If you had one million dollars, what would you play and how long would you have enough money for poker?

It will depend on the person, one would play a million one day and lose everything, the other would not play poker anymore

I think, I would play in a more recreational way. Most likely spend far less time on online poker, but perhaps try a live tournament or two. I would also move up, but not to the point, where I was risking a significant percentage of my net wealth. But if I still wanted to play online, I would not bother with micro or low stakes games any more.

I would invest that $1 million, I wouldn't be willing to spend a lot on poker. If I want to play poker, Cardschat freerolls are there for that :)
Of course, you can also play with the amount received from the investment. If you manage your money wisely, you won't run out of money.

What dzsire said above is the correct +EV play.

At 50 years old and at this point in my life I'm in a good enough position I'd be done work the second I had the million in hand. I'd then be playing online poker every Sat-Sun in the 2 biggest/highest GTD MTT's/day with 10+min level blinds. Perfect retirement.

Cheers!!!

I'd probably move to Vegas and buy a nice house or condo, while saving as much of the million dollars as I can. Then I'd play a few tournaments each week at the range of entry fees I currently play, and live off my social security and interest income. I love the game. :)

Your discretionary income is irrelevant, it's your skill level that matters. Playing big stakes cash or big buy in tourneys with micro level skills makes you just another fish, albeit a popular one.

One million dollars is a good amount of money and the dream of every ordinary person. I will buy all the basics I and my family need, and I will play poker as I play it now and with the same capabilities as I currently have.

That is money I won't earn in 10 years so yeah I would use it to make my life more comfortable and to make sure I have it easy from that point on. If possible help to some dear friends of mine or family a bit. After all of that is covered we can talk about poker investment

I would still be playing low cost tourneys, but more often since I wouldn't be working any more

If I had 1 million dollars, I would continue playing the same way I play today, because I play as a hobby. I would definitely invest that money and live off the income.

The best thing I could do is invest part of the money and also save some money in the bank.I would play some special tournaments with the earnings.I would still be playing the CC freerolls!.Since I have never been abroad, that would be the perfect time to make it real with my family.

Invest most of it in real estate. Spending that kind of money is not a problem. Keeping them is the strength)

I'm already retired with a good pension and medical insurance. I already own a nice home so I would probably give it mostly to my grandchildren and I would like to try a big live tournament like a WSOP or WPT or something similar. Maybe a fewer higher stakes tournaments online. In reality a million bucks isn't that much these days.

Why so negative. I would like to participate in a big live tournament for the experience of it all. I already have no expectations of poker, just the joy of playing.

Stating a fact or two isn't being negative. I have no issues with what you or anyone else does with your own money & would wish you well.

I'd set aside $50k for poker and play in some low volume high stakes MTTs
