Everyone around me believes that playing online poker is a fool's errand. "The games just have to be rigged!'' i miss the days of pstars and having faith in the site running the game! i live in Seattle WA now and can't believe i miss the wsop site lol. ACR just doesn't have the cred. I'm not sure how i can win consistently over a years' time. then just get crushed on ACR. thoughts would be appreciated.....

Are you doing a lot of shoving with pocket pairs?

Most who complain about losing all of the time play a shove game. They do this because they have no confidence in their ability to play these cards post flop.

Sure you fold them a lot, but the times you 3 bet with them to steal and use them as bluff catchers, you'll have more successes.

That is really the best advice. Is the same as trading in forex... If you want to be safe play with regulated brokers. With everybody else you will just lose time and money.

Besides, who authorized the authority? eCOGRA was founded by Microgaming, so who shall we trust? If you think, Online Poker is rigged, you should stop playing immediately, because this will be always your excuse for not getting better at poker. Recently we had a nice discussion and agreed the hands are "juiced", so lots of action flops, every player gets a bit always, lots of suited hands and pairs pre-flop, yes, yes, and yes. But it is not rigged in a way, that someone is pre-defined to get sucked out with premium hands . It hits us everybody from time to time, isn't it?

I don't think there's any agreement on anything really.

And definitely not about any government oversight or eCOGRA (lol, even that's expired for 888 apparently). Government oversight? You mean making sure the site pays their taxes? eCOGRA is just making sure the cards fall at the appropriate frequencies on the screen. There are no guarantees or assurances when it comes to what's normal and what's not normal in online poker.

People who say such stuff are incapable to learn and thus improve their game , play only shove game as @kitchy65 said before me and can't see the fault lies with them or its simply a drystreak which EVERYONE encounters from time to time.

Typically this is something that is quite common in newer players, or players not willing to put in the work (studying). I actually had one ask me last week if I was joking when I mentioned studying (they then responded "Study what" ... as if there's nothing to study in the game of poker).

You'll see MANY of these players in this thread (just look at most of the responses... sigh). The type of response is typical for donkeys, freerollers and players who never invested time trying to get better at the game.

I can say I'm still a donkey. But the better I get at the game, the more I realize just how 'not good' I actually am (wow.. can you imagine how BAD I must've been 10years ago when I thought I was excellent???)

None of the good players ever question the integrity of the deal. Thankfully I don't either (even though I'm still a donkey)

ACR is a tougher site than WSOP, because people from all over the US and rest of the world can play there, as opposed to only people from a few US states. Its also far more complicated to get money out of ACR, so even though recreational players from all of the US can play there, many wont. In some cases also because, they simply dont want to play on an unregulated site. So even the american players on ACR are likely to lean more towards the "shark" side of the spectrum than on WSOP.

The other aspect is game selection and volume / variance. Are you playing the same games on the two sites? And what sort of volume have you put in? Winning "consistently over a years time" might be no more than a sunrun, if you are a weekend warrier playing just a few tournaments every sunday. And on the flip side "getting crushed" might be no more than a bit of short term bad luck. I checked your sharkscope profile on ACR, and you have only played 57 tournaments there, which is a totally meaningless sample, and a lot of them are freerolls. So unless you are a cash game player, this is the answer.

Well the question is recurrent. I don't know if it's rigged but I have just one advice : If you think it is, then you should only play live

Actually there is a simple answer to your question, you install a HUD (PT4, HM, COPILOT...) anything you want, then after playing a large sample of hands let's say 100k, you check out the probability distribution of your cards, how much % you're winning with premiums and how much % you're loosing and a couple of other stats. Try it on another poker room to get a cross validation of your findings. If the game is rigged you'll notice some anomalies in those stats and you can prove it with evidence. In the two scenarios congrats you've just done the investigation by yourself.

I can't tell if it's a scam or not but it just feels very strange sometimes! For example, I quickly create a good starting stack that usually extends into the money ranks, but after that I can actually sit out. I lose with the best premium hands even if it's 1-to-1! Even AKs I never hit the flop and if I do then a rubbish ace like A4o wins that's really bad! In my honest opinion, the money is only pushed back and forth between the players there and the operator always wins whatever else just like in the casino! and whoever pays/plays the most also wins something!

if you think you are being deceived in an online game then just don't play or change the site where you think you will not be deceived, but in any case there will be those in any game who will not play by the rules and such players will always win believe me in any game whatever it is I can tell you for sure that there will be a cheater who will bypass the game's protection and earn the most

Sometimes I think the same thing, it's curious how you can win a lot of hand in one day, and in the next one you could lose everything even if you got excellent cards. It's curious...

The games are not rigged and there is no cheating going on overall. Its not a perfect place to play but its ok overall.

As for people who say its a fools errand your should ask why they say it. If they dont play poker they're most likely hearing from people who dont know or are bad players who said this was an issue. If there players and you know they ask yourself, are they good winning players. If not why would they do well onlinee. You also need to remember the games online are actuall tougher that live.
