In recent years, online poker has faced a serious challenge due to the increasing use of AI tools and third-party software. While poker is traditionally a game of skill, decision-making, and psychology, these programs undermine the fairness of the game. Players who rely on AI assistance often gain an unnatural advantage, as the software can calculate probabilities instantly, suggest the best moves, and even adapt strategies more effectively than a human could in real time. This creates an unfair environment where honest players are forced to compete not only against other people, but also against highly optimized algorithms.

The result is a growing sense of imbalance in online poker communities. Many dedicated players invest hours of study and practice to improve their gameplay, only to feel frustrated when facing opponents using software shortcuts. This discourages participation and damages the trust that online platforms depend on. Beyond the individual frustration, the overall integrity of the game is at stake. If poker becomes dominated by artificial intelligence rather than human skill, its essence as a competitive and psychological contest will be lost. For the long-term health of online poker, stricter regulations and detection systems are necessary to protect fairness and maintain players’ confidence.

Sometimes I feel like when I play online I'm playing against AI and not against a player. I always get beat by an aggressive player with "stupid cards". The best thing is to play poker live

Good points. I also think online poker needs stronger protection — without it, regular players lose motivation.

Its a great learning tool. It can be used for analyzing GTO and ICM situations. It can be used to for analyzing specific hands and possible strategies. It can be used to identify leaks. It can help you analyze specific villans and develop tailored strategies. The uses for improving your poker game are endless.

Back in the 80s, I played a lot of blackjack. I knew all the standard, mathematically correct plays...and I still lost more often than not. AI in poker will work the same way...it will make the standard, mathematically correct plays...but poker is often won or lost on nerve, aggression and quite often, just dumb luck. The benefit of AI is probably quite minimal to players who understand poker, and play when they are alert and fit to play.

Yeah thats literally the first thing I thought about when I heard about AI. "How are people going to use this to cheat in online poker". Online poker is getting very hard to beat these days.

The ironic thing is that live poker is probably much more robust to AI than most jobs, since the entire point is to let people play. But yeah I also think AI in online poker is a big deal, and like 95% a bad thing.

It's sad! The longer the thinking time, the more AI can be used because you need to type your cards and possibly the ones on the flop. If there are programs that use AI and read the cards directly, it is already too much, and over time if something is not done for the safety of the game, players will be more and more pessimistic, they will withdraw from the site! Thinking time must be shortened to prevent the use of AI! I also play on other American sites from time to time where thinking time is very short.

AI is definetly a problema, but I skill think ring bots are even worse and they're also a real thing. In general I guess poker online is slowly walking to its end, but no just yet.

Anyways, I'm clearly the pessimist. Stop expecting fair competition from "human" beings a long time ago. It'll only get worse for sure. I dont doubt the poker sites owners having their own bot ring teams also.

You really don’t need to worry too much about this. If that kind of software actually made people big money, then everyone would already be using it and we’d all be millionaires by now. 😅 I’m not denying that it can help a bit, but I don’t think it should be overestimated either.
