I'm asking about health in general and back health in particular, thank you.

Yes, but it's even better if you play for a long time to buy yourself a special track that you can walk on while playing

Of course, a comfortable gaming chair is a necessary item for players who have the most ambitious goals in poker. I recently purchased a gaming chair, but mostly to relieve tension after bad beats in poker by playing my favorite computer games. :)

Are those gaming chairs worth it? For me they look dumb and uncomfortable.... I prefer leather chair like this:

I'm asking about health in general and back health in particular, thank you.

I used a DXRacer chair for ~4yrs., (probably 3yrs. more than I should have). It was a gift and wasn't actually the type of chair I wanted at the time (but I had been researching them... and this is what my partner noticed. She didn't realize that I had decided I was going to go with a different type of chair, lol.)
I forget the name of the model but it was their best one (heavy duty rated at 400lbs), all the features + 3" rubber casters/wheels.

I found the seat to be a bit narrow and the 'bolsters' on the seat have a metal bar in them and this was pressing on my hips at times. Really unfortunate as I loved the rest of the chair. Just the actual seat part was lacking :( (also not enough cushioning on the seat imo).

Currently I'm using the chair I had prior to the DXRacer. It was a half decent computer chair from an office supply store... but the back had broken off of it. I've been using it again for ~1yr. It's close to 20yrs. old, the seat cushioning is packed down but it's still more comfortable for me than that DXRacer chair.

Something I noticed with computer chairs & especially while playing online poker. I never use the back of the chair. I mean maybe during the 5min. break I might sit back in my chair for a few seconds but that's about it.

My suggestion.
Go to a place/store where you can sit in some chairs so you'll know what you want.

Chairs can be quite expensive. For my next one I'm thinking of purchasing it off of Facebook Marketplace. Sometimes some businesses will close up shop & then will sell off their office equipment. Great way to pick up a desk &/or a chair!
Speaking of which... I think I'll go take a look right now.

I don't know about gaming chair, but chair is definetely very important, i would personally prefer "boss chair" over gaming that's for sure.

I play on the bed with my laptop on small laptop table, which is comfortable, but most definetely not so good for health...

I play an average of 4-5 hours a day, so the comfort of my chair is very important to me. About a year ago, I bought a fairly good quality chair and now I don't feel any back pain. But before that, I had a fairly cheap and not very comfortable chair, and my back hurt quite a bit, which in turn negatively affected my game and my results.

I also have back problems. Sometimes I can't even sit, so I play lying down. My chair seems normal, quite ergonomic, but obviously my back is tired from years of sitting. My colleague also had back problems, but after six months of daily swimming, all his problems disappeared and he no longer has back pain. I'm also thinking about swimming, but I don't know how to find the time for it yet.

...I would say even more about well-being and mental health, set up a setup in an appropriate and receptive place to play... in addition to the chair, 2 or more monitors of at least 24' and a fixed table to be able to play comfortably...

This has nothing to do with hand analysis when playing, but being more comfortable will make you less tired...

How about the old beanbag chair...it adjusts to your movement...nobody sits in the same position for hours on end.

The best for me is Herman Miller's Aeron chairs (but everyone is different). It's almost like sitting in the air.

I have played in them for up to two days straight (not recommended) and slept in them for up to 6 hours (also not recommended).

Yes indeed, I used to enjoy playing poker while laying down with my PC on my stomach, still enjoy it tbh but playing poker while you're comfortably seated is a different kind of ball game

A chair is needed for work, as you spend 8 hours sitting at a table, but for playing poker, a sofa and a light laptop or tablet are more suitable for me. I don't play for more than 4 hours, and I can't imagine how you can play for 8 hours every day, it's somehow not normal.

Basically, you just need a good office chair that is reliable and doesn't cost a thousand bucks. You want something with a good mesh back because it will support your back on its own without trying to force you into an awkward position. A good mesh won't sag over time.

In short, yes — it’s super important for your back. One thing you definitely shouldn’t cheap out on is your chair.

Well, it can definitely help in your posture and long term health. It will also improve your confidence while playing on a cozy and comfortable place.

Has to be a Lay Z boy for me. Feet up, playing on another site tablet. I could not play sitting up in a chair. That would feel like a proper job for me. It’s supposed to be a hobby.

Its bad enough to sit for long periods of time, and its even worse if you have a bad chair.

It sure is important to have a good posture, and if the chair helps, then good.
There's a player called Franco Spitale, he shared that he has a desk prepared to play standing. And he also has (I think that is caleld) a threadmill. I think that's too much 😅

52 year old with a bit of shoulder and back issues that flare up at times. I use a chair like this image above...You need a good chair just as much as you need good shoes. Comfort is important.
