Do they have a better mastery of the math/odds associated with the game? Do they have eidetic memories? Does it have to do with their ability to "read" players in a live game and, if so, can that be taught or are some people just inherently gifted in that part of the game? Or is it something as simple as bankrolls and number of times they play?

Yes, they know everything you specify, you can learn it, of course, but it takes a very long time. That's why they are the best live poker players because they can and can read players, that's the most important thing, they all know how to do math and pot odds so in live poker you'll only see the best players

Besides all the usual poker strengths and skill, a live player needs poise when under extreme pressure.

A player must show a very diverse playing style, know how to use his sitting position at the table to make bets. But the most important thing is that he must be serious about playing poker

He adapts very well to every situation, he has advanced knowledge both in poker and in the body reading of his opponents, another factor for me is humility with this you will go further and you will be an example to follow both inside and outside the tables.

When I watched high stake rollers on TV or YouTube , I don't see any player watch other players . That surprised me a little. Ok, most have sunglasses and they have frozen faces. So I guess they get their reads of bet size or how long other need for a action...

One is patience, two is aggressiveness at the right time, 3 like any sport you have to put in a lot of hours to get good at the game, and 4 like most sports, it costs money. if you don't have money for equipment, you won't be playing for long unless you find a sponsor who believes in you.

A great live player reads situations, not just people. Math helps, sure—but it’s their timing, emotional control, and ability to adjust on the fly that sets them apart. Reading players can be trained, but some instincts are just sharper in a few. Volume matters, but it’s useless without awareness.

Not much changes from live poker to online poker, some decisions will be based on privileged information from the players, which are the famous tell, otherwise it's the same.

I disagree. I have been playing live poker in Las Vegas for the last 20 years or so, sometimes two or three times a year. The live players may wear sunglasses to hide their eyes, but they do not wear a suit with a big "S" on the front and a cape. Some of these players are horrible...they play poker because they are in Vegas on vacation. Now as far as reading opponents, there's no special talent there either...sure, on television, you see the successful reads, but you don't see the other 49 times out of 50 that they get it wrong. Players wear sunglasses so you can't see their pupils dilate from stress or excitement, but here's the thing...if I have quad queens or I have 7,2 os and I'm making a huge bluff, my body will show signs of stress either way. Who can tell the difference?
