Have never been to Pops and was wanting info.

Anyone who goes there please help me out here,

I will have to drive 2 1/2 hours to get there.

On April 21st, I emailed Pops Poker and had a couple of questions about the games--# of entries and how long tournaments last.

I got a response back the same afternoon from Rich the Operations Manager.

They are in Virginia and the Commonwealth rules are live cash games in licensed casinos only, so the format there is tournaments on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.

This is a poker room only and none of that casino stuff. They have 10 tables and a bar and kitchen.

Went first time on Friday April 25th and played the $100 Friday game. $100 = $60+35+5. The 5 is for league play and freeroll at end of season.
Ended up finishing 12th.
The people are there to play poker and it is a friendly place to be. The system they use is Poker Atlas and dealers talk to you using your first name.
The Friday game had 61 players and 9 places paid.
Pops uses the 14% payout structure.

Friday is the $100 game $60+$35+$5
Saturday is $150 game $105+$40+$5
Sunday is $120 game $78+$37+$5

Went back on Sunday April 27th and played the $120 game.
I got AA cracked and finished 39/51.

After all of this, I considered my time driving and poker budget and decided to go on Sunday from now on.

Went back on Sunday May 4th and played the $120 game.
Finished 8/51 and went out on the bubble.

I have been wanting to play live tournaments that are competitive and this is a good place for that.
I had been playing in a couple of the casinos and I like the atmosphere and friendly environment of Pops Poker over the non-personal casino games.
I am looking to improve and climb this ladder and get ITM at Pops and improve my game.

Pops Poker is carrying tournaments 4 days a week now.
Thursday @ 6:00 $100
Friday @ 6:00 $100
Saturday @ 3:00 $120
Sunday @ 3:00 $120
Every third Saturday they have a $300 buy in that just got started and it looks like it is going to be a great success. The game Saturday July 19 had 52 players and first place was just a wee bit short of $4K.

They are using the Poker Atlas software and have dealers that are experienced and run a smooth game.

The last time that I posted, I had went there on May 4th and won the bubble. Finishing on the bubble is like the lady in the red dress coming up to you. You can smell her aroma and she presses her body against you and the next thing you know she blows in your ear and walks off.

I had a family emergency after that and spent way too much time at the hospital after my daughter was in a car wreck.

Got to go back to Pops on Friday June 20th and finished 11th/47.

On June 27th went back and got 26/46. My worst game at Pops. That was one of those days where I was dead meat from the beginning.
We all have them from time to time and it's not fun while it's happening.

Went back on Friday July 18th and got a 6th/41 for my first ITM @ Pops. Paid $100 to play and Won $123.
So it took me six games to get ITM.

Went back on Sunday July 20th and got a 4th/49., Paid $100 and won $382.
That made for a good weekend for me to get ITM two times like that.

I drive 150 miles to get there so I am not going as much as would like to.
The average games are paying +/- $1400 to $1500 to win and with the steps that I have taken the next goal is a top 3 finish and then a win.
Everyone wish me well and I hope to continue my Pops Poker journey.
