In for 140 , out for 582 started at 9 pm left at 1 am, did I leave to early here? I doubled up early on , went on do almost quadruple up. Played a lot more orbits and decided to take my profits and leave , as I had a hour drive home, was this a hit and run?

I dont know, what the norm or expectation is in your cash game, but personally I would not expect anyone to stay and play after 1am in the morning. I mean... it must allowed to go home and sleep, and you already played for 4 hours.

I kinda feel the same , only issue is the game was only five handed to begin with, so I felt kinda bad leaving the game short , but I came and did what I wanted to…. Did I mention that’s the only 140 I had at the time Lol.

A hit and run would be shoving, doubling up and leaving after.

Did you get a comment by one of the other players about it, or are these just some afterthoughts that come to mind?

Not even close to a hit and run. Great job and a good night I'd say. Congrats.

PS....If it's a home game(by the chips looks like it). I typically set a time and tell the host when I arrive when I plan to leave or around the time I plan to leave. That way it's clear well before hand when I'm leaving. 4 hours is plenty of time specially when it's a 1 hour drive home. Kinda sucks it left them short with 5 people thou. But it happens.....happened last Friday at my buddies home game. It wasn't hit and run either.

Cheers!!!

Well, it depends. The obvious answer is no, how could be leaving after 4 hours even considered "hit and run"?
However, if it was a home game and you all planned to play longer (or you just usually play longer) it could be considered a kind of hit and run.

Surely not, not even close. Why do you think it could be considered to be hit and run when you play 4 hours?

Stop thinking about 'hit-n-run' altogether!!! You rack up when you want to for whatever reasons you want to! The only situation where you want to consider your timing to leave is when you are playing a home game and you want to ensure that you'll get an invite back.

4 hours is far from hit and run...like Fallenglory says, a shove double up and leave after only a few hands would qualify as hit and run.

I get the same thought in a short handed game. When I'm ready to leave I'll just about always play one more time around from the button. In a situation like you had I hope, and hope, and hope that a new player joins us. Maybe I'll start announcing that one more time around like I always used to. :)

Leaving when you feel satisfied and especially when you have a long drive home is never too early. You don’t owe anyone at the table to stay — poker is an individual game. Taking your profit and leaving when it makes sense for you isn’t a hit and run, it’s just smart bankroll and life management
