Do you have any rules of thumb for when to hero call on the river?

When to call on the river?

Basically, it will depend on how the hand was played up until that street, but in short, a call is profitable on the river when you have a bluff-catcher, that is, the villain has a lower value than you and must have a bluff frequency, because for the river call to be profitable, you must win more than 50% of the time.

I know it can be a bit complicated to understand just in theory, I'm also in this process, however, you can give us an example of a hand that you played and we can analyze it together.

I don't have a rule as such, but I have a very simple principle. If I am confident enough in the strength of my hand and if I feel my opponent's weakness, I will always be ready to take a risk.
Good luck :)

perceive your opponent's weakness and then attack without fear, you must always use your skills to the maximum in the game, without fear of anything.

...read the style of the player in question...the value of bets also defines a lot...pay attention to the table and the plays that are happening at your table, this will help a lot to define patterns of your opponents.

I mainly rely on any reads I have on the opponent by watching how they play against others and their bet sizing, especially on the river. If they go all-in, it gets tougher — in those spots, I usually trust my intuition.

It depends on pot odds. If Villain bet full pot, you need to be good 33.3% of the time. If they bet half pot, you need to be good 25% of the time.

Before you make any bet on the river, you should always ask yourself what you will do if your opponent raises.Yes, I get bluffed all the time, and yes, I make bad hero calls all the time. But the only reason I still make money playing poker is because I'm right more often than I'm wrong.

The river will always depend on the combos that reach the river, whether the villain will have a bluffing range playing in the spot, whether there will be more bluff than value, whether the villain is capable of bluffing many combos on the river, this is what has to be analyzed to be able to play hero call on the river.
