If you start with poker, then i would recommend micro stakes games, freerolls and tourneys where beginners have fun.
It doesnt matters if you loose some cents, but it is better to start at a low level and growing up step by step - similiar to a solid bankroll management.
Dont play tourney´s or cash tables with higher buyins, it is much better to invest time in poker learning and hand reviews. Learn from the best if you like to watch poker streams ;-).

If you really treat the game serious, want to learn and improve:
Register your games: stakes, number of hands, time, rake, net result. Know how you are doing.

I would advise any beginner to create an account at CardsChat first, even before creating an account at any poker site. And I think that would be the best advice :)

Don’t try to win every hand. Be patient, play tight, and fold when things don’t look good. Also, only risk 1–2% of your bankroll per tournament. This helps you manage your bankroll in the long run

What can I say to a beginner in a game like poker? Play, play, and play some more. It may be a bit, but experience is necessary. Do not compare participating in freerolls with playing for real money! These are completely different games. When you play with your own money, it is a completely different experience. Keep an eye on your bankroll. Poker is a marathon, not a sprint. If possible, try to observe and analyze your game (regardless of whether you win or lose) and draw conclusions. Do not get carried away by euphoria and do not take revenge on a specific player. In general, I wish you good luck, because it plays an important role in this game! (with a capital "L"). Good luck!!!

A lot of good advice here... bankroll management, table selection... One thing that is pretty important in my opinion and took me a while to grasp is the concept of thinking in ranges of hands. Putting an opponent on a specific hand can be fun especially when it turns out to be right, but mostly they are going to make a move with a variety of hands and correctly considering whether we are ahead or behind that range is what makes a play profitable or not.

In my opinion, it’s best for everyone to say “Don’t gamble more than you can afford.” Play on finances that you can simply throw away, and never gamble on money that you took on credit...” You'll have to give up yours tomorrow"

Main advice i would give a starting player is

Study the game somewhat before start playing. Make sure you play on repeatable sites. Dont play at higher buy in levels then bankroll management would suggest.

I would say dont start playing poker😀
Its a very addictive game.
But if you are stubborn and want to play, be patient and start small buy ins.
Enjoy the game most importantly.

Don't learn, don't play, but if you can't resist, play only freerolls and perhaps very small stakes. Give cash games a miss.

Well, that depends on their goals. Are they trying to become a professional? Are they looking for entertainment?

In most cases, learning bankroll management would be an excellent place to start. For those looking to play well recreationally, I may suggest studying some charts and learning about positional advantages. For those looking to be professional, I'd suggest the same things but also more advanced material, possibly GTO and solver work.

It's a game take easy a good decisions preflop, flop, turn, river.
Learn more about bankroll, and try to improve yours knowledge about the game.
Play with passion, and learn time by time, and try understand the board, and of course try to understand the part of bluffs.
GTO Wizard, and Holdem Manager 3 it's a good softs to learn more about poker try to understand how to user them to work in improving your game :) it's that whats I doing now.
Try to fiind your style of the game, and follow him.

First, love the game and know its pros and cons, and most importantly, patience, focus, a calm mood, respect for the rules of bankroll, and mastery and application of all poker strategies and skills as much as possible.

My advice:

Know that there is A LOT more to this game than you will think.

When you've played for awhile and have had some decent results, know that you are actually STILL not good at all.

You can learn this game in a short amount of time but it takes YEARS to become good at it.

Be prepared to STUDY and then STUDY some more... and some more! But be sure to put in LOTS of time playing between these study & review sessions.

Also, LEARN HOW TO STUDY! You can waste a lot of time studying the wrong stuff.

My advice would be to quit the game entirely ! Find a healthier hobby outside ( hiking , bicycling , tennis ,surfing , etc )Sitting in a casino or by your laptop all day is no life , even if you are a strong player and a solid winner .
