Without luck, it will be difficult to play online. Of course, skills and experience matter, but luck is no less important in my opinion.

Skill applies more at higher level buy-ins...freerolls and micro stakes are probably 80% luck...if poker were more skill than luck, the same players would win most of the time...look at Federer, Djokovic and Nadal in tennis...those three dominated for close to 20 years...there isn't any poker player who comes close to that kind of domination...I could not beat any of them in a single game; maybe could not win a point from them in tennis...but in poker, I outlasted many pros in the 2019 wsop Colossus and won a head to head hand against a player who has been seen going deep in many tournaments on TV...trust me, it was NOT my superior skill that won...or my good looks...LOL

Welp, luck is a significant factor in poker. Which makes it different from some other skill games with a luck component, contract bridge as a good example. Even though in bridge, which is also a game of incomplete information, you often need luck for good distribution of cards between players, you are just simply going to be constantly utterly destroyed without enough skill. In poker you are going to win even without skill and barely understanding the rules purely because of the luck, but skill is the key component that determines whether or not you are profitable in the long term.
