Hey everyone,
I’ve been playing poker casually for a while, and one thing I keep struggling with is finding the right balance between being aggressive and being patient. Sometimes I tighten up too much and miss opportunities, and other times I get overly aggressive and end up spewing chips.
Recently, I had a spot in a low-stakes online game where I flopped top pair with a decent kicker. I went aggressive, but my opponent played back hard and I couldn’t figure out whether I was ahead or just walking into a trap. It made me wonder: how do you all decide when to keep pressing with aggression versus when to slow down and control the pot?
I’d love to hear your thoughts — especially from players who have improved this aspect of their game. Do you use any specific rules, mental checklists, or strategies to guide your decisions in tough spots?
Thanks in advance, looking forward to learning from you all!
