Around 2007, when I started watching poker TV shows here in brazil, I used to have fun playing ZINGA POKER...
I spent many years like that, until I decided to create my own accounts to play poker for real money.

I first learned how to play poker when I was a kid, thanks to my father. He taught me the basics in a fun and patient way, and over time it became more than just a game — it was a way for us to connect and share special moments together.

I'm still learning hahaha, but I discovered it playing with friends one night of beers and music 8 years ago, that's when I realized that I really like this game.

I started out reading every poker book I could get my hands on, then I joined a couple of training sites, then I got coaching.

Reviewing hands with a ICM tool was the biggest bang for the buck in terms of my improvement.

I learned from books and movies, first playing for imaginary chips, and then I started playing for real money, trying my hand at freerolls and then at real money tournaments.

Seems like most of us started either online or through family/friends — do you think learning through Apps and social games makes it harder or easier to transition into real-money poker later on?

When I was young I played cards then learned what poker is then why not get into the action basically, perhaps it took me many years to individually learn it and I hope you learn the strategies mire than anything else.

I learned by playing with friends, studying strategy books, and analyzing my mistakes — poker teaches you as much about people as it does about cards.

I started playing poker after I saw the wsop tournament in Las Vegas. That’s how I began learning — and I’m still learning now by watching poker videos on YouTube and, of course, from my own mistakes." 🎥♦️

From chat GPT a couple of years ago, I think the main reason i play is that the random element makes it fun

I first learned to play poker by watching friends at home games and trying to pick things up as I went along. At the beginning I only knew the hand rankings and played mostly for fun, but over time I started reading articles, watching videos, and following some basic strategy guides. More recently, I’ve been playing freerolls and low-stakes games online, which gave me a lot more hands to practice with and a better feel for different situations. I’d say it’s been a mix of trial and error, studying, and just getting experience at the tables.

I think most of us started out playing for play money online just to get the basics down. Back in 2009 I found a poker school that gave a free deposit for training, and that’s how I won my first real $150 which I cashed out to WebMoney. Communities and schools like CardsChat really help a lot with both learning the game and improving over time. It’s much easier to grow as a player when you’re not doing it alone.

1 year ago I came across a poker video mind you I haven't even heard of poker before that. The video was of epic showdown between sammy Farah and Chris moneymaker for the wsop championship final.I couldn't understand what was really happening like how can cards determine how you can win ,then i started digging deeper and deeper in poker understanding hand strengths , strategies and now I would say I have come a long way. Definately lost a lost of money playing lol but how can you say I am a poker player without having you lost some money.

In my case, I began to learn the basic rules with family members. Over time, I put them into practice with friends. Then I ventured into the world of online poker and learned to read my opponents firsthand. Over time, I perfected my game by learning from great professional players and any advice I could get, both in videos and in Cardschat conversations.

I first discovered poker by watching the WSOP on TV, and it really caught my attention. I don’t remember the exact year, but I’ll never forget the name of the game: Boyaa Poker, a free Facebook game where I first started playing around and got into the game. After playing on Boyaa, I wanted to go deeper into the subject, so I started watching videos, reading strategy materials, and practicing a lot on free online tables.
