I’ve been thinking a lot about what truly makes a successful poker player. Some say it’s all about the math — pot odds, equity, ranges, and GTO strategies. Others argue that psychology is even more important — reading opponents, spotting weaknesses, and applying pressure at the right moments.
Personally, I believe both are crucial, but depending on the stage of a tournament or the type of opponent, one aspect can outweigh the other. For example, against recreational players, psychology might give a bigger edge, while against strong regulars, math becomes essential.
What do you think? Is poker primarily a game of numbers, or is it a battle of minds?
