What You Need:

Simple knowledge of outs, pot odds, and hand strength.

Logical decisions, not complex equations.

Discipline, patience, and reading players are just as important as numbers

Think of a chair that has 3 legs:
1- Math
2- Discipline/Self-Control
3- Luck.

You will always need all 3 legs to sit on the chair. If any of the three legs of the chair breaks, you will fall. However, if you are careful, when one of the legs fails you can adjust your body and force your legs to avoid falling. This solution will work sometimes but you will not be able to sustain it for long.
Now, if two of the legs of the chair break, then the fall is inevitable.
The lucky leg does not depend on you. There is nothing to be done. So, strengthen the other two legs:
1- Math
2- Discipline/Self-Control

Math is a factor along with many other factors. All of which should be considered when making a decision at the poker table. It’s hard to say what is more important, this factor or that factor. What’s important to me is know as much as I can about the game so I have a chance to win. Good luck!
