for tournaments: Harrington series and Professional No Limit Hold'em
for cash games: Harrington on Cash Games Volume I and II

also, some information in harrington on hold'em II can be applied to cash games.

You should read harrington on hold'em before you read Professional No Limit Hold'em, as PNLH is a bit more advanced. However, they both talk about similar concepts and do not contradict eachother.

A lot of good info here i also am looking to get in the know by reading a little more i seem to do OK but there is a lot i still need to learn i recently got the Harrington on hold em vol. 1 and am reading it it is easy to understand and has helped me understand some thing that i have always questioned the way i did it to the way it should be done

For tourneys id have to agree Harringtons are fantastic. For the small limit ring player, I got alot out of Low Limit Holdem by Lee Jones. For a psycological/physiological angle Greenstiens Ace on the River is very good.

Daniel N book was great for me to read and really helped my tournie play. Phil H. Limit hold em book helped me a lot on managing my bank roll.

I like the three volume set by Phil Gordon. (The little green, blue and black books) Well written; entertaining as well as informative. Especially good for beginners.

No, I haven't read any of the others in the series yet - I know Aliengenius has though. I've only seen two of the others (By The Numbers and Online) on the shelves here, we're a little bit starved for choice. By The Numberslooked interesting, but I just wasn't in a math mood at the time. As for the others, I haven't really been sure how much crossover there is between them and how much actual new content is in each - Online certainly looked like it covered some similar ground to No Limit.

Oh, and for all the people still recommending Super System, please please please remember that it is neither a beginner's text, nor a low-stakes text. There are literally dozens of better books for you to read if you fit into one of those categories.
