The Theory of Poker" by David Sklansky is highly recommended for beginners. It covers fundamental concepts and strategic thinking essential for improving your poker skills.

It's a great book and actually the first I read, but is a bit advanced. I remember horribly messing up preflop at first, as I would be calling off 5bets all in at 2NL with AK and always running into AA and KK, not realising that no one is 3betting and 4 betting the GTO ranges
