What do you trust the most? – your brain, the math, or pure luck? As an Engineer by profession, I have always wondered whether I can crack the games using pure science. So, let’s first split them up:

**Science** is in every game. The wheel, the dice, the cards – all run on math and probability, with the house edge built in.

**Logic** is in how we play. Smart moves, bankroll control, and strategy matter, but one bad card can ruin it.

**Luck** is the mystery. A beginner can hit the jackpot while a pro walks away broke.

Maybe it’s a mix: science builds the game, logic shapes the play, but luck decides the story.

So when you gamble, what do you trust more – math, skill, or luck? For me, I feel it’s my brain clubbed with luck, while it can vary depending upon the game we play.

PS: This is my 300th post on Cardschat - help me celebrate the milestone 😁😁

As for me I definitely believe in luck and logic. Nothing can be achieved without luck

Very well said (y).
If only that luck factor gets out of there 😜!!

Congrats on your 300th post (306 now) 🥂.
Exactly. If it was just skill, many of us would have been billionaires by now 😅

…And thanks for the compliments.

If you want to take things seriously, this can be a significant obstacle at first, because you will have to constantly monitor what you really understand and what you have simply been led to think you understand but actually don't.You're playing cards. Ultimately, it's all luck, because you don't control the cards.

‘it’s all luck’ is something I might not completely agree with. Skill such as table reading, value betting, bluffing etc. also matters on a poker table. Isn’t it?

Hey there,
iam gonna trust my experience. Poker is a complex game where a successful poker brain relies on a blend of math and psychology to make profitable decisions. Luck plays a significant role in the short term but is largely overcome by skill and statistical advantage in the long run. A good poker player uses mathematical concepts like pot odds and expected value (EV) to make calculated decisions, while also reading opponents' tendencies and bluffing effectively.

Good luck next time,
Natox

Everything in this world is based on math 🤔, in poker luck controls the turn of the cards 💩,now it’s up to your brain to figure out the best strategy 🤯.
But as said in the X-files “trust no one” 😾.

Luck and math for sure, it's no surprise that probability plays a huge role in poker.
If you know your percentages of making your hand, Add that with luck and you become unstoppable, sometimes you wake up, start playing and everything is just hitting man, sets, flushes, straight.

Congrats on 300! 🎉 I trust math and skill long-term, but luck rules in the short run.

If winning was only based on luck (and certainly in some games it is) I would never win. So I stay away from pure luck games.
Someone has once said, "the best thing about luck is that it can change", but I don't think that person knew what he/she was talking about
If my intellect has no effect for the end result then why play at all.

I have always relied only on my own knowledge, experience, skills, and at the same time I hoped that luck would also be on my side. I think that a clear calculation will always have an advantage, and those who approach the issue pragmatically will have a chance of success.

Me personally I trust the most in logic. It's just how I am and how I perceive things with logic and nothing else. Part of that thinking comes from poker i guess.

You can rely on knowledge, but someone else's knowledge may be better, you can rely on luck, but someone else may be luckier. Offline and online casinos often have these properties, they are smarter and luckier.

I agree with you totally... yet, the term 'chance of success' could have been avoided 😉

I trust my experience the most. Based on this experience, I choose the game and select the bet. My experience generally shows me that gambling cannot bring stable profits. At the same time, experience shows that when you treat the game as entertainment and play with money you can afford to spend, you still have a chance to hit the jackpot.

Logic is what makes the game potentially profitable. I rely on it. As for luck, I never rely on it, but I always hope that it will smile on me :)
