I am still a new player. I would like to ask experienced players: what kind of strategies are good to survive in freerolls.

You need to be a variation in poker. You have to analyze not only the play of your rivals at the table, but also your own. If we are talking about freerolls, I advise you to wait for your opponents' mistakes. Many players don't know how to properly manage their stack, and also don't know how to play in a particular position at the table. You need to learn how to identify such players and take their chips. ;)

A universal win-win strategy is a poker player's dream, but it does not exist. None of the styles are used in their pure form; the techniques need to be combined. For example, in most situations, a player carefully waits for strong hands, but at the right moment will not disdain to call the bet. Entering a multi-pot by calling with a low pocket pair is an example of a departure from a tight strategy.

Totally agree, buddy! Playing smart and switching it up at the right time really makes a difference! 😊

there isnt any one formula that will apply all the time, the key is to look for good spots to accumulate chips and to know when to give up and fight another time ina different hand.

"Totally agree, bro! There's no fixed formula — it's all about picking your spots and knowing when to hold back. That's the beauty of poker!" 🎯

I would play a free roll with the same mindset that I would play any other tournament. I pay attention to how my opponent is playing and have a plan against each player. I have strategies depending on my stack size, position, how many opponents are in the pot and where we are in the tournament. Bubble strategy will be different than when the tournament first starts, etc.
You can use free rolls as good practice to try different strategies out. It’s also good to get experience without loosing real money.

I am still a new player. I would like to ask experienced players: what kind of strategies are good to survive in freerolls.
One single strategy has always helped me. I wait patiently for a strong hand and try to double up. If I succeed, I continue to wait patiently for good, strong cards, and if I'm unlucky, I just look for another freeroll :)

Don't play too many hands. Play only tournaments you can afford. Study ranges of BB, SB, BTN, Cutoff and UTG, dont bother studying other positions, start with those.
In the beggining of the tournament play very tight, and as the tournament goes on you can expand your range and play more loose.
(Another big tip: always play according to your stack, that means if you have 20bb or less, play tight, if you have +60bb expand your range and play more loose)

Pay attention to the starting hand chart and play only if you feel you have a strong chance of beating the others.

The goal in any tournament is not to survive but to make money. So the first advice is to understand this. The second advice is to take our free course:

Stay, trust, play thousands of hands in free rolls, not bluff, position and number of players making up the pot, try All-in when you have top pairs or put the set on the flop, depending on pre-flop calls and raises.

Thank you very much for your advice! I’m beginning to understand that merely surviving in tournaments isn’t enough; making a profit is crucial. I’m grateful that you shared the free course link with me. I’m glad to receive it and hope to learn a lot from the course.

Thanks! Your advice is very helpful. I will stay patient, pay attention to position and number of players, and go All-in when appropriate. Hopefully, this will lead to better results.

Make redundant posts, (including threads asking basically the same questions ;) ) so that you can gain access to the Cardschat freerolls. Here you will also gain experience but keep in mind, the large majority of the field are not good players so you will only be able to learn so much while playing those games. (still an excellent place to start if you are new to the game!).

As others have mentioned (here and other thread) > the Cardschat 30-Day course is your best bet!

As someone who's also been learning, I can share a few simple strategies that have helped me survive longer in freerolls:

First, I try to play tight in the early stages — that means only playing strong hands and avoiding risky spots. In freerolls, a lot of players go all-in with anything, so waiting for good spots can really help you stay in the game while others knock themselves out.

Second, once the field gets smaller, I start to open up my game a bit, steal blinds when possible, and pay more attention to stack sizes and position. Most importantly, I remind myself to stay patient and not tilt — freerolls can be wild, but if you stay focused, there are real opportunities to build a bankroll for free.
