I've started incorporating meditation before the sessions, and I think it helps. My incline resistance has improved and I stay alert longer. Has anyone else tried awareness techniques for poker? I wonder how common this is among serious players. I will be happy to share the applications and procedures that I use if anyone is interested.

Yeah, I’ve added meditation and breathing exercises to my pre-session routine too. It really helps with tilt control and decision clarity. Mental prep is underrated in poker—glad to see more players focusing on it. Would love to hear your techniques.

I have tried to meditate three times in the last two years - and it's not just about poker. Personally, I lack perseverance and I can't cope with the flow of thoughts in my head. But I still think meditation is a good practice that should definitely help you concentrate!

I never meditate to play poker either before playing or after playing.

I’ve experimented with breathwork and short pre-session meditations, and it definitely helps reduce tilt and keep me present during long sessions. I think awareness techniques are still underrated in poker but becoming more common, especially among players who treat it like a high performance discipline.

I don't know what professional players think about meditation, but it's probably a positive attitude. I've never heard of meditation having a bad effect on people. On the contrary, meditation contributes to a better mood, better self-control and therefore a better game.

I started using meditation before sessions, and it really helps me stay calm and focused — especially after bad beats.

I'm not sure it can help if you have serious goals of becoming a professional player. You have to concentrate on the game, be motivated and be prepared to get bad beats. If you have nerve problems, you should probably play fewer poker tournaments.

Not just for poker, but for a lot of other things too.
