Let the women enjoy the tournament play in peace!:cautious::cautious::cautious:

I'd have to say
1 guy entered the field and beat hundreds of women?
what tf women

you would think they would try to help each other and give each other tips and notes on him almost to the point of cheating

So if they can't beat 1 fat old guy
I can see why people get angry about who enters it.
If i did enter
I wouldn't tell anybody i was a guy until after everyone was celebrating that a woman had won it.

xD

I personally don’t agree with women only tournaments. As poker is not a physical game, so men have no advantage over women.

Women’s poker is generally considered softer than other tournaments and therefore he could gain more of an edge by playing more aggressively.
He saw an opportunity, took it, and it payed off.

Unfortunately our society today is very corrupt, he saw an opportunity and took advantage of it, I'm not saying what the iso is right, but maybe if someone stopped him he could be accused of being intolerant

Maybe it’s not that simple — they might have purposely made it so there’s one man in the tournament with a bounty on his head.

Can't have Boy Scouts because it excludes people based on their gender but you can have women only poker tournaments...

This reminds me of the guy who changed his gender to save money on his car insurance.

Don't hate the player hate the game.

It's the current year after all

So, if any of the non-believers in women's tourneys here wanted their girlfriend or wife
to learn poker too, they would tell them they don't believe in women's poker tourneys
So they need to play against the pros. No soft learning.

Women's poker tourneys play an important role in whether a woman even wants to
learn Poker. They aren't interested in jumping right into the ugliness of a super-aggressive
bullying and intimidation that a regular tournament has until they can hone their skills in a ladies' game.
If men had a brain, they would understand that we want them to learn for our sake at home.
And most importantly, poker needs them to continue to grow.

The math is the same whether you're a girl or a guy. There's plenty of low stakes tournaments they can play in they don't "need to play against the pros" right away unless they are buying into pro level buy in tournaments... Oddly enough this is where most men play too and most men are not pros... Why would you set them up for future failure by having them play in a game that doesn't replicate the game they were "trying out" if we're following the assumption that men are that much more aggressive than women.

The magical thing about poker is that it doesn't care. We're all created equal once you sit down. I disagree in trying to carve out an exception in a meritocracy.

I'm all for women's tournaments because it's great for us women, it's a more fun tournament to play in and it's great for recruiting new players. But it's better to have both men and women, because poker is a unisex sport. But when you have a tournament exclusively for women, I hate seeing a man there, it's sad!

may your ladies always hate poker
Id rather instil a belief in my that my daughter can compete with anyone than instil the belief that she should only compete with those of her own gender.

It's a mind game, I believe women can be just as good as men in.

Do you not believe women can be just as good as men in a mind game?

Better, but you completely missed the point. :giggle:
Are you going to instill in your daughter to start from the top, then you don't have to work your way up
It's a starting point to get women comfortable playing poker SO they can kick ass when they join a regular game.
Crawl before you walk, walk before you run. You won't have to instill that in her; she was born with that, something you have forgotten

I believe that they can't lawfully exclude men, just discourage them with the title "women's tournament", so any man with nothing in his pants can join. :)

None of what you said requires a women's only environment. The good female players just get access to really soft games under the guise of it being beneficial for women. (Well I guess it's beneficial for some women... just like you could run a children's charity as we're all someones child)

I don't believe there should be men only poker tournaments played at public venues so I don't believe there should be women only poker tournaments at public venues either.

I'd be more concerned about the sharks at the newbie female tables, seems unfathomably predatory to me tbh.

You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make him drink :giggle:
96% of women do not play poker anyway, so why incentivize them ;)
Hopefully, your princess will do bigger and better things

From what I understand it is because card rooms are public accommodations and as such cannot discriminate based upon sex. Apparently some promotors will discourage men by setting an extremely high entry fee. Women would be given an extremely large discount on their entry fees, while men would pay full price.

Outside incentives don't exist in a zero sum meritocracy like poker:)

I agree most women don't play poker, thus there's no need to change the game to make people like a game they don't like lol. Go for a girls night and then come back home and learn poker with the people who will challenge you the most at the game regardless of their gender.

For there to be a female world chess champion I believe they are going to have to had played with the men (or boys) from the beginning. Not totally the same given there's luck in poker but I think the overall point stands.

Have a ladies night playing poker or play poker and then have your ladies night, The casino is hallowed grounds, no favourites, no biases only winners, losers and those who think even the live games are rigged.

God Bless

I can agree if it is a cash table but in a multi table tournament the married couple has no control over where they are seated.

my main question is, if it's a Ladies tournament, why would they let them play?
