Its a skilled based game, its not a sport. Sports are based on a physical activity.

That's an interesting question. While poker is often discussed as a sport, it is not currently considered a sport in most of the world. It is generally categorized as a game of skill and luck, similar to casino games. However, there are arguments to consider poker as a sport, as it requires strategic thinking, mental agility, and the ability to adapt to changing circumstances. Both chess and table tennis are recognized as sports and share some similarities with poker, such as requiring strategic thinking and mental concentration. However, chess and table tennis are more physically demanding than poker, which is primarily a mental game. Ultimately, whether or not poker is considered a sport is a matter of opinion and depends on how you define "sport."

Yes, I think you can present poker as a sport. Why not, hold a competition

Do you think that sport is only physical - but you should know that in the boxing ring you need brains, mental strength to win!

There was already a similar topic in the “Sports” category and I remember that opinions were different. I believed and continue to believe that poker is a sport that should be included in the Olympics program in the future.

I wonder why the same people keep asking the same questions....

A sport involves physical competition between players.....

Poker is played sitting on your behind...

.... hopefully using your brain....

the only physical "skill" needed is to stay awake...

definitely not a sport👍

Chess is not a sport. It makes no sense to assert it as a sport. Chess, backgammon, poker, these are all games.
However, people mention them as "mind sports", so I think it is okay to put them in this new category, the same way today there are "e-sports" for people who play games like LoL or Fortnite, idk.

For me, poker is a sport. It doesn't matter to me whether poker is officially recognised as a sport or not, it doesn't change my attitude to this game. I see poker as an intellectual sport, and I treat the game accordingly.

I don't think poker is a sport, because you sit there for so many hours, that's not athletic at all.

I don't think is a sport, but I also don't think break dancing should be considered a sport and be in a Olympic Games, but it happened, so, who knows. But I only could see this happening when US host again another Olympic Games, I don't think any other country would suggest poker to be part of Olympic Games.

I think yes, poker can be recognised as a sport. If there are computer games that are recognised as a sport, why can't poker be considered a sport as well? Yes, poker is an intellectual sport. But players are different and have different attitudes to this game, some play for fun, some for money.

I don’t see poker as a sport. To me, a sport involves physical activity, and poker isn’t a physical game.

It could be introduced as a sport and it would be nice to be like that, but I don't think there are any real chances.

Poker is considered a mental sport, it would be difficult to see it as a sport like soccer or tennis; Although I would like it to be considered an Olympic sport one day, something that is very difficult to happen.

But poker is a sport! In fact, the practice brings benefits for the prevention of brain cancer.

No I dont think sports are only physical but that is a component.

Its still a skilled based game, not a sport.

I don’t think so. It’s similar to chess but not table tennis. Table tennis could be in the Olympics but not chess or table tennis.
