I was thinking today about role models in poker, those players who inspire us not only with their results but also with their style, personality, and the way they approach the game. And I wanted to ask: who is your poker idol?

For me, it has always been Daniel Negreanu. 🌟
There’s just something special about the way he reads opponents, almost like magic. His ability to talk at the table, stay calm, and still play world-class poker is something I really admire. Whenever I watch his videos or old wsop clips, I feel like I’m not just learning strategy — I’m also learning how to carry myself as a player.

Negreanu is living proof that poker is not only about math and luck, but also about psychology, discipline, and personality. I love the way he shows positivity, even when things don’t go his way. That mindset is something I try to bring into my own sessions.

Learn about your hero's personality, their work ethic, and their ability to see the essence. There are many and it would be difficult to choose one. Daniel Negreanu and Phill Ive are big old names and even with AI and lots of Soves they still beat the field. As I'm Brazilian, it's difficult not to put some names on the list. André Akkari, Felipe Mojave and Yuri Martins lead this line...

Well, i wouldn't name him an idol, but my favourite player is a Tony G

I wouldn't call them exactly idols more like my favorites:
Male
1) Phil Hellmuth(For obvious reasons).
2) Phil Ivey(That trade mark Ivey glare is intimidating and intense).
3) Phil Galfond(I don't think there's a more honest, respected among his peer and all round more smart and knowledgeable high stakes player today).
Honorable mention to Tony G for simply being Tony G and very entertaining to watch. Him and Hellmuth at the same table is pure gold.

Female:
1) Jennifer Harman
2) Annette Obrestad(Annette15)

Tough question! For me it's probably Daniel Negreanu-I've always admired his table presence, the way he reads opponents, and how open he is about strategy. I also like that he's been around for decades but still adapts to the modern game.

Outside of the big names, I also respect grinders who quietly put in the hours online and make a living without much spotlight. That discipline and consistency is something I'd like to develop in my own game.
