What was the hand or tournament that first made you fall in love with poker? For me, it was watching a crazy bluff on TV years ago.

Honestly, it was watching Chris Moneymaker go heads up against Sammy Farha at the 2003 wsop.

On one side, you had Moneymaker, the complete unknown, an amateur who got in through a $39 online satellite. On the other, Sammy Farah the sharp, cool, seasoned pro who carried himself like he was born at the felt. It felt like David vs Goliath in the purest form.

That final hand, when Moneymaker bluffed Farha off a big pot earlier and then later sealed the win, showed me what poker is really about. It’s not just cards it’s courage, psychology, and having the guts to pull the trigger when everything’s on the line.

That moment made me realize poker is the one game where an underdog with enough heart and nerve can shock the world. And ever since, I’ve been hooked.

WSOP 2003 Chris Moneymaker wins the tournament and $2.5 million, qualifying for it by winning a seat in an $86 buy-in satellite tournament at the pokerstars online poker room.

I am 46 years unemployed and confined as a result of Covid-19 I found myself in the need to look for some online activity that would generate resources and there were several trader alternatives, jobs watching videos options such as learning to program and in some post I saw that poker was a strategy game where if you were good you could generate resources so I started looking for material to learn and it was love at first sight I never felt so at home

For me, it was originally the psychology of body language and tells and things like that, but as I've played more, my interest has shifted to the depth of strategy psychology. GTO, but also exploits far from "optimal", yet is +EV.

Knowing that the way we play our hands in poker is similar to the decisions we make in life, especially since I'm an idiot who decides with his heart and not his brain.

I accidentally came across a video of the Poker World Championship at the Rio Casino in Las Vegas. At that time, I didn’t even know events like that existed. I really liked it, started getting more interested, then signed up on PokerStars — and that’s how I began playing poker. It’s been 11 years now, and I’m still playing this game.

Besides really enjoying the game, I think it was the fact that I could earn money from the comfort of my own home.

What was the hand or tournament that first made you fall in love with poker? For me, it was watching a crazy bluff on TV years ago.
I started playing poker in the reading room at university in 1972, before Chris Moneymaker was born. My mother was a very good poker player...in fact, she went into labour while playing poker with her friends, so I was born right after a poker game. You might say that my love for poker is genetic, but it came gradually. My early days in Las Vegas, I played mainly blackjack, with some craps...they are too expensive today...and playing against the HOUSE is usually a losing proposition...playing poker against other players of varying skill levels allows me to play longer...for me, it's not about the money because I don't play large enough stakes to make a difference in my life...I play to WIN...at 5'1", I loved sports, but could not compete at higher levels, since my size was always a disadvantage...except for high school wrestling. I can't beat Tiger Woods in golf, can't win a tennis match against Roger Federer, can't hit a 100 mph fastball for a homerun, definitely would not fare very well in MMA...but, I can compete with top poker pros, as I did in the 2019 WSOP Colossus event, where I survived into Day 2 and cashed...I outlasted several pros.
How could you not love a competition that always gives you a fighting chance?

Several factors attract people at the same time: the opportunity to make money, play, fun, competition, development opportunities, constant learning, bluffing, emotional roller coaster, excitement etc.

It all started when I watched old cowboy movies, and that's where I first saw people playing poker.

Covid + CC= all my poker dreams all came true. 100% all about the CC :p best games on the planet. I have played them all <3
I am getting to the point where I can go outside again too. I am seriously daydreaming about big tourneys and the advantage I will have learning off of all the sharks here O.O
I am 100% used to playing with friends, and I do not care what anyone says, looking across the online table and seeing G0930 or Bulliezebum or DPoker33 or Antiono777 or the people who taught me in the beginning <3 Hi Charlie, Rob, Jay <3 and then learning how to slow play, re-raise their asses is way more fire in that moment than any stranger could give me.
And in closing, let the record show… I love CC📝💖last day for fall team league sign ups lol

I also enjoy playing on websites such as https://kingjohnnie.auscasinologin.com/ where I can find the best gambling games available today.
What’s cool is how it showed poker isn’t just about math or experience, but also instinct, timing, and pure nerve.

I don't remember exactly, but when I was a kid, I was interested in watching cowboys play poker in western movies. It was a different kind of poker than the poker games that are popular today.
