Is the taste of victory as sweet for you as it was at the beginning of your poker career?

Sitting down at the table to play poker with the mindset that you will lose is incomprehensible. You play to win, it doesn't matter which place you take, it is important that it is rewarded, and when playing Cash you stop at a loss acceptable to you. If you sit down to play without setting rules for yourself, you will lose to the worst opponent in the world, yourself. Because by not setting the moment when you should stop and take a break, you will only lose by wanting to get back at you.

I'm used to losing and I still enjoy winning !
Hi :)
When I started, every victory was like winning the lottery for me. Now, after almost 8 years of playing, every victory for me is the result of my work, patient and disciplined play.

There is Winning at Poker, then there is WINNING! at Poker, The difference is in what position you finish? Being number One in every game you play is just Impossible, It would be nice but It's never going to happen. Finishing in the Money is always a Win in my book, Whether that is a couple of Cents in a Freeroll or a Few Dollars in a buy-in Tournament.
All Wins are important if you are wanting to be a Profitable Poker Player, The only time I don't consider a Win Profitable, is when I have had to re-buy in a game a number of times, That's also the reason I try and avoid re-buy Tournaments, It's all fine and well to be able to re-buy and continue playing, but are you going to be in Profit at the end of the Game? That's the real Question.
I remember when the National Lottery first started here in the UK, and a Chinese Gentleman that used to come into our Pub was over the moon because he won £10 in the very first draw, "I Win, I Win" he proudly proclaimed in the Pub, When I asked him how much? He said £10 with a smile, I said "Well that's a great return for a £1 bet, No he answered I bet £50, So in his mind he had actually won £10 but in my mind he had lost £40, It kind of changes things when you get the full facts.
He was ecstatic, thinking he had won £10 and oblivious to the fact he had placed bets totalling £50 to win £10, but a Win is a Win Right? Sorry but not in my Book. If I Won 10 Cents in a Freeroll that cost me nothing to play, I consider that a Win and would be happy about it. Winning at Poker is just about being in the Money and being in Profit, There is a huge difference, but being Number One in a Tournament is a totally different feeling, I know because I have been there a couple of Times!
I always want to play my best game when I sit down at a Poker Table, Fishing In the Money is always a Win, But I don't even think about Winning the Game until I reach the Final Table, It is only then that I start to think that it is within my grasp to be Number One.

Victory is making money. The feeling of winning a tournament is good, but we will only win a small percentage of tournaments in our poker life.

The older we get, the more our emotions become dull. But we still love poker.

Without a beginning, the thrill of winning is always greater. I remember that my first big win was an 11 dollar Pokerstar tournament, at the time I won 3 thousand dollars.
I still have the video they made for the winners to date.

I remember being very excited about that win.
But today I don't care much.
because poker has ups and downs.
Lower than high lol

But in a face-to-face tournament, the excitement changes, when you're face to face with your opponent, it's always good to cheer yourself up, even to distract your opponent.

The taste of victory is the same as ever, of course as why you win more than once, that's why the taste of victory increases with every trophy.

For me it is not. When I started to play, everything was better and because I used to play so much more (and there were more options of tournaments and poker rooms), I have used to win more tournaments. Nowadays, I don’t think I have more than 10 1st places in a year.

Poker, like many things in life, is as much about mindset as it is about skill. Setting boundaries and having a clear strategy before you start is crucial. Without discipline and knowing when to walk away, you’re not just playing against the other players—you’re battling yourself. It’s all about balance and playing smart, not just for the win, but for long-term success

I'm used to winning, but I win less.

I also play MUCH less nowadays.

I still hate losing more than I love winning, so not much difference in how I feel after a win after over 20 years of online play.

I agree with so much of what has already been posted - i kinda feel you have to cherish the small wins and learn as best as you can from the tight spots which don't come off - for the next time.
I definitely feel as the older i get, the more satisfaction i get from a win, its a game i love and to take a break now and then only refreshes the mind and my will to succeed, i don't however lose sight of the enjoyment this brilliant, yet frustrating as hell game gives me :)

I'm used to losing and I still enjoy winning !
Honestly, the grass was greener and the girls younger. :ROFLMAO: And if we're talking about poker, I still enjoy the money I win, perhaps even more, because I realize how hard it is to earn it. But when it comes to emotions from wins in poker (if we don't take money winnings into our attention) I've become more pragmatic. That is, I can do time banking if I have a serious stack, but I don't risk losing. Every tournament has become a job for me, the main goal is to get into the prize zone, and only after that - 1st place in tournament.

Winning a tournament is still a joy because I beat every player.
It was like that a long time ago, and it's like that now.

To this day, all my poker victories are exciting for me, and like at the beginning of my career I don't get too excited about it anymore.

Of course, the taste of victory is the best thing in the game of poker. But losing is inevitable in order to learn from your mistakes and develop in the game.

When I started, victories were very rare and brought me incredible satisfaction. My wins motivated me to keep playing and improving my skills. Now victories are also always a joy, but it is definitely not such a huge joy as it was at the beginning.
