Was it the poker myth you believed in at the beginning that turned out to be completely wrong?

Yes, I totally believed that I could one day become a member of the pokerstars team when I started playing poker. :ROFLMAO: I watched a lot of content related to this poker room. But it was a myth. :) Now I don't have that ambition anymore and I'm quite happy with being a member of the CardsChat Community.

When I started playing, I was sure that my future success would lie in my skills. Now, after many years of playing, I realise how much I underestimated my luck :)

One of the biggest poker myths beginners often believe is that poker is mostly about luck and that good hands always win. Many new players think that if they just wait for strong hands like AA or KK, they’ll succeed, or that bad beats are unfair anomalies rather than a part of the game’s variance. In reality, poker is a skill game played over the long term where decision-making, psychology, and bankroll management matter far more than just the cards you’re dealt.

Personally, at the very beginning I wholeheartedly believed that poker was all about nitting. Ahh those good old days.

In general I notice that people not familiar with the game sometimes think that good poker is some kind of high-risk gambling-esque game where you are always financially on edge. Even though the risk is a real thing, that's basically why you have bankroll management. And the winning game itself is less about risking and more about long-run grinding than people tend to believe.

The myth that winning is hard
Makes sense TBH, technically to be a winning player you just need to beat the rake, which should not be that big of a problem at the low stakes, unless you play somewhere very predatorily monetized.

That unlike in the movies, opening your hole cards slowly seldom results in your having a good hand. Sometimes however I still give it a chance. :)

The better hand usually holds up when all in heads up pre-flop.

One big myth is “You need to bluff all the time to be good.” In reality, solid play and smart decision-making win more often than constant bluffing.
