Everything that gets you hooked on is an addiction, poker is gambling so you have to watch yourself

poker is just a game, it is incomprehensible how someone can compare it to much worse things like drugs

Yes, of course. There is a mental disorder called "Ludomania" - it is a gambling addiction. Any addiction is bad and any addiction needs to be treated if the person wants it. I have seen in my life many people who are addicted to gambling, these people are unhappy, they lose all the money they have, borrow from friends and also lose, and at the same time they cannot stop. People need to treat poker as a pleasure or as a job and then there will be no problems with it.

of course, depression and addiction develop, many bad things are caused by poker, but only one good thing - money

I don't think it's related, especially during online poker. The situation is different in real life, but I think that those who become alcoholics or drug addicts would be so even without poker. But correct me if I'm wrong

Poker can become addictive, but if you are a person who likes to play for fun and sets a budget every month to play, then it is okay

If you develop the feeling that if you don't play every day, it's an addiction. In such cases, it is worth neglecting the matter for a few days, because then it can become an obsession, which is a straight path to failure.
It is not by chance that this warning appears on gambling sites: Gambling can be harmful if not controlled and can lead to addiction! Use our online tools and play responsibly.

I am lucky, I do not have an addictive personality but if you have you can get addicted
to anything, tobacco, drugs, alcohol, poker, chess, anything.

I don't think it has anything to do with it, because alcohol and drugs you just spend and get no return, whereas in poker you invest and get a return

Poker is a form of gambling. Alcohol is a drink. The drugs are hallucinogenic. No! They cannot be compared.
If a person does not have control over their actions and allows themselves to be dominated by addictions, whatever the modalities, this will always be harmful. There needs to be balance in everything you do in life. This is called moderation.

It's like with a lot of things in life. For some yes and for some definitely not. In the end drugs and Alcohol go in your body while a cardgame cant.

I don't believe.
In the case of alcohol and drugs, it is a chemical dependency. In poker we must be careful not to cause addiction, but without a chemical relationship it is a psychological addiction, in my opnion.

the main thing is to play and not get excited, some people shouldn't play, but someone makes good money playing

In most cases, you lose money by playing under the influence of stimulants.

I've been playing poker for many years and have heard a lot about people with gambling addiction, but I don't think it can be compared to drug or alcohol addiction!!! If poker suddenly disappeared, I don't think people with gambling addictions would experience withdrawal symptoms from its absence; they will simply come to terms with it quite quickly and without any consequences for the body!!!

I believe that almost any discipline or hobby can become an addiction if not managed properly. While poker doesn't entail a chemical dependency (meaning, there aren't substances in the game itself that cause addiction like certain drugs do), addiction can still develop when the brain releases certain hormones as a reward for winning money or gambling. That's my understanding, although I'm not a professional in that field.
Additionally, if you're not good at accepting the fact that you could lose money, things can end badly, especially if you're investing money you can't afford to lose. It can lead to a complicated situation.
As long as there isn't a dependency, everything should be fine.
