Personally, I think live poker gives you more psychological edges, but online you play way more hands and get faster experience
Which one do you think improves your game more – live or online?

You nailed it, my view is same as yours. Basically, the application and frequency will depend on how much would you like to improve on each side of this coin.

online poker may provide more opportunities to gain experience in playing different combinations, but offline poker will better prepare you psychologically.

Both live and online poker can sharpen your skills, but in different ways. Online poker makes you sharper in terms of math, speed, and volume — you see far more hands per hour, face a wide range of opponents, and quickly learn patterns and technical precision. It trains your decision-making under time pressure and develops discipline against variance. Live poker, on the other hand, sharpens your people-reading skills — recognizing betting patterns, timing tells, and body language. It also forces you to stay patient and focused since the pace is slower. The sharpest players usually combine both: online to polish technical skill and live to strengthen psychological and adaptive play.

Both formats sharpen different skills, so it really depends on what you want to improve. Live poker forces you to read physical tells, manage emotions over longer sessions, and practice patience, which can make you more observant and disciplined. Online poker, on the other hand, challenges you to make fast, mathematically sound decisions, handle multiple tables, and adapt quickly to a wide range of strategies, which sharpens focus and analytical thinking. Ideally, playing both helps you become a more well-rounded player—live poker hones psychological and interpersonal skills, while online play strengthens calculation, timing, and volume management
