Only you can know what resonates wrong within you.
It depends on the Christian, it depends on your relationship with the activity. Absolutely all worldly activities carry both sides, it depends on you.
There is a right way to do everything, and a wrong way. The easiest way is usually the wrong way.:p
I think it is more about the reputation than anything else, when you actually play and see that the movies and tv are a gross exaggeration of the experience then you can find a content middle ground.

as with anything balance is key, some personalities...obsessive compulsives especially should probably avoid poker.

If poker is a game of chance, it may be wrong, depending on the beliefs that each person carries in their heart and conscience. But if poker is a mental sport, there is no problem. What is wrong is stealing, killing and destroying the lives of others.

A difficult question, for sure. In general, any questions related to religion are better not to ask, as it can hurt some people. I don't think poker is a sin, as I consider it as a sport, not entertainment. By the same logic, any other kind of sport can be considered unacceptable for Christians.

Not wrong if you play for fun and don’t let greed or gambling addiction take over.

I believe the answer lies within a person. Does it effect your life negatively? Does it keep you from God? Does it impact or grive your spirit? Has it become an idol to you? Does it interfer in your walk with God? Do you but it before Him or your families wellbeing?
If it has any of these affects, then it is a sin and you should walk away from it.

Interesting question, I think it depends on your religion and belief, but it can be contradictory. I think it depends on the religion you belong to, I suppose.

I believe poker is just a game of skill and entertainment. As long as you play responsibly and don’t harm others or yourself, it’s not wrong. Like anything in life, balance and intention matter most
