Poker is played both for fun and for money, although for most players it is more of a hobby than a way to earn a stable income. Poker requires a combination of skill, logic and discipline, not just luck, but only persistence and constant development allow you to turn it into a source of income.I play to make money.

For me it’s a mix of both. If I only play for fun, I don’t take the game seriously enough to improve. But if I only play for money, it can start feeling like work and the tilt gets worse. I think the sweet spot is finding enjoyment in the challenge itself — playing smart, making good reads, and then letting the money be the reward that comes from that.

I play poker for the social aspect and the fun. Very few of us will ever make great money from playing. But that doesn't mean we don't dream about doing so!

If you want tips about playing tournaments, try the Tournament Poker forum and give us some more details about what type of games you are talking about.
Good to hear ! Thank you for the tip i will look !

I play poker mostly for the love of the game, the challenge, and the strategy involved. The thrill of reading opponents, making decisions under pressure, and improving my skills is what keeps me coming back. I do play for money occasionally, but I try to approach it responsibly and not let it control me.

As for tournament tips, some key things I’ve learned are:

  1. Patience is crucial – don’t force hands; wait for good opportunities.
  2. Observe your opponents – understanding their tendencies gives you an edge.
  3. Adapt your strategy – shift between tight and aggressive play depending on the situation.
  4. Bankroll management – only play stakes you’re comfortable with, to avoid unnecessary stress.
  5. Mental focus – stay calm and composed, especially under pressure, because poker is as much a mental game as a strategic one.
Stratergy Is for me indeed as a new player serching ! Thanks for the good advice !

I usually play poker for fun, enjoying the thrill of strategy and mind games, but when playing for money, patience, discipline, position awareness, and adapting to opponents are key. In tournaments, survival often matters more than chasing every pot.
True ! I play for fun indeed becouse poker is for me a game to relaxing. But a bit monny is always a bit fun more.
