Hey everyone đź‘‹

Lately, I’ve noticed something interesting: the kind of music I listen to while playing poker seems to affect my style of play. For example, when I put on some chill jazz or lo-fi, I tend to play tighter and wait for stronger hands. But when I listen to high-energy rock or rap, I catch myself being more aggressive and bluffing more often.

So I’m curious:
🎵 Do you listen to music while playing poker?
🎵 If yes, what kind of music — and have you noticed it changes your mindset or decisions at the table?
🎵 Do you maybe even have a “poker playlist” that helps you stay focused during long sessions?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and maybe get some ideas for building the perfect poker playlist. 🙂

I switch up my music depending on my mood and how things are going at the tables — when I’m running well, I go for something upbeat, and when it’s not going great, I stick to something more calm.

My music is random, heavy, hard, fast, light, soft, slow, happy, sad, love, joy, hate, sorrow.
I dont find it really makes much difference to how I play, but sometimes it feels like the flow of the world changes. It decides to sing along with me, letting me know how it's feeling through the cards it lays out.

music definitely affects us, so I try to choose according to what I need at the moment but if I'm listening to a stream with EDM, everything goes haywire, so I try to avoid those while grinding. I also have an FT playlist for best possible decisions but it needs to be reviewed as it's not 100% to my taste any more these days

It doesn't change my poker decisions.

But it change my mood, and that can change my luck, so I might have better stuff to decide upon. ;)

Hello!!!
This question is very interesting because it speaks more about ourselves than the game.
Poker is something that really affects players, so we end up training and studying to play more rationally than emotionally, even to the point of not involving emotions.
Music, in general, stirs our memories and feelings, so we bring up something that we often try to mitigate in the game.
I usually put on some kind of music that I know won't impact my decisions that day, but will help me stay focused.
Sometimes I even put on an audiobook.
But the most important thing for me, which is crazy, is that what's playing will guide me through the game's tempo, for example:
When this song ends, I'll see that the late one is over;
When I finish this audiobook, I should be getting to the Semi FT;
When the playlist ends, without having practically finished the day's play.

LOL, these timekeepings help me stay focused and not get anxious, especially in those giant tournaments with even bigger late starts...

TIP: Always carefully analyze the level of impact on your game, whether it improves or not. Whether it excites you or not, as this can turn hours of gaming into a tiring marathon.

Yes. I usually hear a little bit of everything. I like lofi to play concentrated or gospel. But I love 80s, 90s rock... Now, when my children are home, children's music takes over the playlist.

To be honest, I like to play poker in silence, as music distracts me, but it's just a matter of habit.
